Cali had a poster trio in 2000 and 2003. It might help to specify which year.

So you want $6,000 before you add the Benny? No thanks. Add the Benny now, don't be so greedy.

Yes, seems like people are using raffles to get way more than the prizes are actually worth if they sold them.

Cool guys. Perhaps next time I'll do it. I wanted to get at least 80 participants to get it going. Most roinks have sold in the 2800 range(w/sleeves). The poster is probably another 1200 (90's sigs w/ great provenance), the rest of the items are close to $100 in value, plus or minus.

If the number of participants actually reached 150- I would feel obligated to add more stuff. An Emek Big Way poster from Santa Barbara and the Benny. That means that if I had reached 6k in funds- that I would balance it out with more quality items. A sealed Benny and a damaged Big Way Poster.

Raffles have not been successful on the board, unless it has been for charity. The only other successful raffle that I've seen was for the Benny- and that was a fare raffle. The owner was donating funds and offering a 2nd place prize. He was recovering his investment and giving someone else an opportunity to get a rare item for a cheap price.

Probably the facebook raffles Tony, theres one most weeks and there is often a very handy rake on ticket sales against the values of the prizes

A Reenk roink is a raffle that I imagine would capture the imagination of a lot of folk

From the year 2000. Hope this clears things up and increases the number of participants. ;)

The last roink with sleeve actually sold for $1900.

And the one that sold a few weeks before that sold for 2800. The previous ones before that sold for 2800+. What is the issue or your concern?

Yes i'm not specifically referring to this raffle alone, but i'm saying if you got 149 entrants and didn't throw in the benny you're take would be a fair bit more than the prize values. You should also state a minimum number of entrants needed to go ahead.

.....and holds to my biased theory that there aren't many people on this forum that have thousands of dollars to drop on these highly priced collectibles. easier to do a raffle, give lots of people a shot, make a ton of money off it, make a lottery winner happy, a seller relieved, and be done with it. the mods didn't say there was some dollar amount people need to keep to. words like 'reasonable' and 'not using it as a side business' are subject to interpretation.

Please take your non charity raffles off the forum.

Welcome to the Pearl Jam Message Pit's trading forum. Please remember that the spirit of the policy here is meant to keep the trading activities on a fan-to-fan and personal basis, not to create a side business.

You can trade and set a reasonable price here for Pearl Jam memorabilia as long as the item is not available elsewhere on the site.
