Dear Pearl Jam,
Periscope has proved that there is a need. Technology can't be stopped so get ahead of it and provide it for your fans that can't go to the show. We love the excitement of hearing the concert in real time. If you don't, the fans will do it themselves and the result will be a lesser product. Charge us, but please make it affordable. You changed the rules with official Bootlegs, time to repeat your innovation.

Or just give us a free stream, no strings attached. I don't really see why 10C should be charging for this. These days that is easy and really doesn't have to cost them much of anything to do. They could just stream the audio and what shows on the big screen (or set up a stationary camera, as already suggested), so no extra staff required or anything like that. Someone would just have to work out how to link the feed.
I guess people are assuming they might be resisting this, and suggesting a pay on demand stream, because it would prevent some from buying actual concert tickets? .... I guess that's something to ponder... but I seriously doubt it would have an impact.Post edited by PJ_Soul onWith all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Widespread panic offers live free soundboard audio every show, they just provide a link to it on their webpage0
-
I would disagree. They would need equipment to link that feed up to the internet. They would need some kind of high speed portable internet to stream it to the servers. They'd need to staff to make sure it doesn't crash. They'd need a server and software capable of streaming the shows. They would also need a large amount of available bandwidth to handle all the traffic of people wanting to stream it.PJ_Soul said:Or just give us a free stream, no strings attached. Not quite as easy as one would think. How does periscope make enough money to pay for its own bandwidth?
edit: So I googled it. Twitter owns periscrope and it doesn't make money.. lol. Most of the articles I found reference how twitter can monetize so they can make money off it in the future.

Yeah, they don't really needany of those things. Maybe just a new digital camera with internet capabilities, though I assume they already have shit like that, and a periscope account.Zod said:

Does anyone use http://mixlr.com ? Heard a few live non PJ show's with this. It is pretty good. Periscope is great though.0

There was a mixir last show in Brasilia and it was so nice. It felt like we were at the show.0

That's a good point... they could just do it on Twitter's dime... lol.PJ_Soul said:

If anyone is reading this, just look at the setlist threads in given to fly, everyone is so excited to get the setlist and hear even a crappy feed of it.0 -
cause if they made it free than people would have less incentive to go to the actual concertPJ_Soul said:Or just give us a free stream, no strings attached. I think a total of 5 people would sit home and listen instead of actually going to the show live0

There was? I missed that one. Who did the live feed? Would love to hear tonight's broadcast on mixir. The last few Periscope feeds have been buffer problems & video stops viewing on the desktop PC.Longueuil said:There was a mixir last show in Brasilia and it was so nice.
