I am really into cassettes right now, and it being a buyers market really helps. Great albums for $2 to .25 cents.

I think I am now going to save to get a nakamichi cassette deck.

I used to have a Nakamichi Dragon. I sold it Last year along with my cassettes. That deck was top notch and it made the format sound glorious.

Would love to have a dragon, but damn they're expensive.

I got mine in a deal with an eclectic collector type. He collected stereo equipment like people collect baseball cards. If a company that he liked came out with a new product catalog, he bought one of everything they made.

Right place at the right time kind of thing for me.

I posted this on another thread, but I'll re-post here in case anyone is interested: I don't know if these are considered good quality, but I have six Sony HF 90 minute blank cassettes, if anyone is interested. I bought a pack of 10 for a project I was doing a while back, and only needed 4. You can make that mix tape for a friend/loved one for New Year's now. Free to a good home.

I still have quite a few boxes of cassettes leftover from my youth and a few pieces of equipment to play them on. Last cassette I remember buying was Ladies and Gentleman We are floating in space by Spiritualized. Ive never had a problem with the quality and although they often got chewed they were much more robust than CDs and vinyl. You could stuff them in the glovebox of the car and they would be fine. Think I will put on Neil Youngs Broken Arrow later, never got cd or vinyl of it.

It contains two more songs than CD - unfortunately, these are pretty rare now.

I don't really get this new (old) trend TBH. Is this just all about nostalgia? If not, why would anyone want to listen to cassettes at this point? They don't sound particularly good, they are ultra delicate, it's impossible to queue songs..... what's the draw if not just old-schoolism?

You guys have way cooler cassettes than I ever had. Electric Ladyland was the pinnacle of my collection. The rest was mostly mix tapes and a few singles that I picked up cheap.

Even though it didn't see much action in my home, you all are making me miss my tape deck.

Its the revival of cassettes. You can get a deck REAL cheap, and cassettes from .25 cents to a few dollars. :rock_on:

Its pretty hard to find cassettes where I live in the UK, people think they are worthless I guess so not much chance of picking any up. They seem to have vanished . CDs however are so cheap it's unreal compared to vinyl.
I buy the music I like and try to avoid thinking of the stuff in monetary value otherwise you would never open any of your viny but I have to admit though that one reason I stopped buying CDs is that they were holding very little monetary. Although the tables are turning now and I'm looking at my vinyl collection thinking the cost is getting so out of hand that I'm unlikely to get what I spent back if I ever do decide to sell up.
