will there be a new album released in 2016? I personally think a "surprise" album is coming early 2016, just a hunch, so I obviously vote yes

I hope there is.... but I just don't see it happening. I hope I'm wrong though

They toured a lot for LB - it's time for a new album - What will it be called? Soak the Sponge? Maybe we should start a new thread on speculation of the new album's title?

I voted yes only because I can't see them touring as much as the rumors are indicating without supporting some new music. This spring tour is obviously happening and it would be the longest tour leg they have done since 2006 of 20+ shows. Ever since their tours have consistently been about only 12 shows. Plus now we are getting strong rumors of a run through Europe this summer. I just don't see them hitting the road this much without a new record to support. Bring it on guys I'm ready for it!!!

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see any indication that they are in the process or about to be in the process of recording a new album.

Lightning Bolt Tour so far has hit:
    Eastern USA 2013
    Western USA 2013
    Australia 2014
    Europe 2014
    Mid West USA 2014
    Latin America 2015

besides Eastern Canada they have hit pretty much their entire touring cycle... and with zero b-sides in the lasy 10+ years you know they have plenty of material

Admittedly I probably answered more the question of "Do you want a new album in 2016" but the timing and tour rumors do sort of add up...

Same here. Even before all the pressing plant waits got way longer, the average time between finishing recording and releasing an album was about 5 months. Now it's even more. For them to have a 2016 release they'd have to write and record the entire album no later than probably April or May, and we all know that's next to impossible for Pearl Jam these days (especially since Jeff should be touring for RNDM in early 2016).

But what if they already did this in 2015?? They could have had a couple recording sessions during the year and could put it out in march or early April before the tour starts. This I think is what people are speculating about.

Voted yes...might be more wishful thinking than anything else. Clinging to the tiny chance that the guys spotted flying out of Atlanta actually meant some secret recording was going on.

I don't see this as possible personally. It's just not how PJ works these days, and I know at least 2 band members have specifically said that they haven't worked on a new album yet. Jeff said that they MIGHT work on one at some point in 2016, which means it wouldn't come out until 2017.

Jeff says they "might get together in early 2016", didnt he? That tells me 2017 at the earliest.

the only way we know they are recording a new album is if they tell us... what if they just decide to not tell us until it's done? how would we know?

If I was them, I would do a "surprise" album... time to mix it up

A surprise album would be awesome. I think the bigger surprise would be not the album itself, but that they actually did a surprise album. The idea of them secretly working away together and cranking out an album without anyone knowing about it would shock the fucking hell out of me, lol!

I think a new album but not new music ,a PJ25 release as such PJ20 offered a fair bit so I figure PJ 25 will be bigger as in a celebrative concert/tour opposed to a new release, either would be great
