face it guy's, your arguments are based on your political beliefs and half truths and the fact that Trump is POTUS is just another symbol of your loss, it's a hard pill to swallow I know but eventually you'll get over it, shit we had to live 8 long years with a president who had no business in the WH but we knew his time would come to an end so we prayed for someone better and got Him.

Time after time you say that Obama had no business in the Whitehouse. What argument do you have to support that? Remember - no political beliefs and half truths may be used as supporting evidence.
He also referred to Trump's win as a landslide, though Obama won more electoral votes and overall votes in both elections. So perhaps Trump has less business in the White House?
do you think Obama won those votes on his own merit ? or was it the fact he was the first possible black president ?.....who did speak well.

Do you think Trump won those votes on his own merit? Or was it the fact that people were impressed by his vocal dissent of the establishment (while residing within it) or amount of gold-plated toilets in his home?.....who spoke regularly with three syllables or less, at a 4th grade level.

Also - I'd still appreciate hearing your argument for why Obama had no business in the White House, without political beliefs and/or half truths.
HAHA. good luck. I have asked him this question several times and haven't had one coherent answer other than the same as Trump's "he's a disaster".

This article, from 8 months ago, sort of sounds like what's happening to the Trump admin right now.

    Irony.
it's just a political game that's played by both sides and in 4 to 24 months it will be history.

    there ya go.

Awww...that's cute. You don't know how to react when someone not from the left is appalled at the person currently occupying the Oval Office.

    Sad!
o.k, you just shut me down.
Just amazes me that republicans think anyone who criticizes Trump must be some crazy lefty....when Trump himself was a pro choice, gun control supporting democrat until it was politically convenient for him to switch sides and dupe 60 million people into voting for a fraud.

Real conservatives....people who actually care about the constitution and not just winning the white house are furious over this charade of a presidency.

Country over party. You're on the wrong side of history.

    Sorry.
some of us in the beginning stated that if another more qualified candidate ran under any party we would have voted differently but given the turn of events many of us were left with no choice but to vote for Trump, voting Hillary was not an option.
party lines are useless to me, I have always voted for the candidate not the party, which ever it was they ran under.

When was the last time you voted for a non republican for president?

He absolutely won on merit. Your comment about him being black and, as if it were some genetic abnormality, well spoken is mind boggling. You are quite possibly the worst poster on this entire forum (not just AMT) in regards to being well versed in any component of the English language. The belief that you have any sort of credibility to claim who is well spoken and who isn't is laughable.
grow up, after I posted that I thought some yahoo would call racism. good grief what an ignorant fucking thing to suggest.

Maybe choose your words better and you wouldn't SOUND racist. I don't believe you are racist, but you definitely sound like it because you're so poor at choosing your words. What you typed definitely comes across as racist and it's your own fault. Again, I don't believe you're racist- your poor phrasing just makes you sound it.

I think Obama won those votes, period. That's all that really matters. Just like all that really matters is that Trump won a few more votes in important places and got his ass kicked overall.
Look at the county by county national map. Except for a few blue dots hear and there in population centers, the whole country is red. Tell me again who got their ass kicked.
Guess who lives in population centres?

    People. Lots of people.
Well I live in the sticks and I have cows for neighbors & I count too damit.

No one said that flyover country doesn't count. But the color of the map does not represent the majority. If someone lives in Olpe, Kansas...their vote counts just as much as someone that lives in Boston, Massachusetts.

Is this serious? You're right.. why have Alaska vote? Because that's the electoral college. It was set up precisely to ensure that smaller states have a voice. At the same time, if you live on an acre in Kansas, well your acre doesn't count for as many votes as an acre in NYC because there are a thousand people living in that acre. One person. One vote. Regardless of the size of property, no property, county, whatever. It's person and state that matter.
This is sort of like that post you made saying Conservatives hate socialism... while failing to realize that medicare is socialism and the GOP won't go anywhere near it.

So, you're speaking for all of rural America? I could turn the argument right back to you and say that "we don't want small towns deciding the outcome for the whole country." Do you see how that logic is flawed?

Like I said earlier, a vote in a small town & a large city should count equally. The color of the map doesn't mean anything at the end of the day.

It is about representation. To keep one majority from representing the whole country's diverse population. The cultures vary greatly in different geographical areas of the US and it would not be fair for the population of 3 cities to determine the outcome of the entire election. Your system would result in politicians only trying to represent the populations of a few major cities while not even considering the needs of smaller communities. Pretty sure a lot of other states would jump on the sessession bandwagon if their votes kept getting completely outweighed by suburban populations that knew nothing about agriculture or other rural economics. Is it a perfect system, no, but it's better than a "New York, Chicago, LA get to decide who is president" system. All a politician would have to do is pander to those select cities...where does that leave everyone else?

I"m not sure he's arguing for that. He was just pointing out how ridiculous it would be for the rural areas to have undue influence. I think it was in direct objection to @RYME 's statement about "lookit all the red on the map", except where the people live.
The EC system is actually quite brilliant when you think about it. It does create the balance of maintaining some level of state importance, even with 300MM people. That was the Founder's objective and it has happened. We still care about Iowa, New Hampshire and New Mexico every four years. But if you can't get some combo of NY, TX, CA and FL, you're toast.

I've got nothing against city slickers. And I don't consider you damn city folk. Chill dude. No we don't want a few large cities deciding the outcome for the whole country. Otherwise why should people in Alaska vote at all?

I agree with you, and maybe I just looked into it too much. I see so many people not understanding that we are a representative democracy and not a direct democracy.

face it guy's, your arguments are based on your political beliefs and half truths and the fact that Trump is POTUS is just another symbol of your loss, it's a hard pill to swallow I know but eventually you'll get over it, shit we had to live 8 long years with a president who had no business in the WH but we knew his time would come to an end so we prayed for someone better and got Him.

Most people don't realize the FF had a real distrust of the people. Along with the electoral system, remember that Senators were appointed by the state legislatures. They were not directly elected until the beginning of the 20th century. And Jefferson (I believe) rightly referred to the House as a "rabble"...the only body elected by the people.
Pretty sure the French Revolution that had just wrapped up had something to do with the distrust.

The FF were typically educated, wealthy, male and white and those with the right to vote elected the house and the senate was elected by either the state legislators or appointed by the governor. And the senate was considered the more civil deliberative body with terms of six years with one third up for reelection every 2 years as opposed to the whole house being up for reelection every two years. It ensured educated decision making, stability and continuity. Peaceful transition of power is pretty remarkable.

Again, I don't believe you're racist- your poor phrasing just makes you sound it.
now that I could see, but also I have a habit of saying it like I see it and some folks don't care for that.

    Just a thought.

State...Population divided by Electoral Votes = # of people per electoral vote

    CA...38,000,000 / 55 = 690,909
    WY...585,000 / 3 = 195,000

So if CA had a single electoral vote for every 195,000 people like Wyoming has, they would have 194 electoral votes, but they don't. It's less than a third...

How is this equal representation? The system needs an adjustment...most votes wins. America is a work in progress.

(If my math is messed up, it wouldn't be the first time. :) Happy Friday all.

There's just no other way to say it.

Take your personal crap off of the forum or be read-only. It's over - and you will be over if you do it again. This applies to everyone doing it. If you can't ignore the person that causes you to do it, please do not visit. Each thread has a topic and personal sniping at other members is not a topic.
