Regardless of intent... the cartoon is of exceptional poor taste and indefensible.

A dead child is not comic or joke material under any circumstances and their recent depiction offends nearly everyone... but we don't kill them for producing it.
So either they can say whatever the fuck they want or they cant.
The other argument is , the actaul picture was used in how many ways to do what? Oh yeah, highlight and shame europe into better action.
Guess what, its the same thing. VERY biting commentary on Europe and US too for that matter.

Most here came to the defense of their absolute right to mock islam and whatever else they saw fit to target.
I find it offensive when the death of children is paraded around and used for political or whatever purpose.
But here on the train it was cool and right of them to go after islam and other religions. but now when they use a depiction of a widely disseminated image coupled with a scathing commentary on eurpoean respons, its suddenly wrong?
Were you as outraged at how often and widely the REAL picture was used?

with this cartoon though, they are using a widely dissemiated social media shared , news report shown image well after the fact to impart the hypocracy of democracy and europe.
If it was cool then , its cool now.
I disgaree with both decisions. there is a better way.

It's kind of like the video the wildlife defence organization released of the grizzly getting killed. People read of 800 grizzlies killed per year in BC, but I'm not so sure they stop to think exactly what that means until they see a bear in its worst moment.
They definitely cross lines. I find their depictions classless. I found this one particularly classless.
Just contributing for those that don't read French. I have no comment to share.

If offended people should not patronize the paper.Pretty Simple,or hit back with an op Ed piece.
I think this is mostly a biased writer/cartoonist who was part of the violence of the day of the shooting and probably is trying to push his predujices thru his work.Tasteless as it may be.
PJfan, didn't you learn anything at all when Charlie Hebdo was murdered??

Yes. I learnt' that I am right that people do crazy fucked up things in the name of religion.
Not sure if you are just posting for the sake of peppering a thread or you are just trying to play advocate. If you feel that strongly about not criticizing this issue, freedom of speech, blah, blah, why don't you print a copy of that cartoon and post it at your work and say that to people who criticize the poster. I believe 100% that you would not put your actions to match your above words. I believe that you are being a little hypocritical.
I believe that the posted above thoughts by you as much as I believe you saw a floating ufo the size of a football field over your head.
You may call yourself pjsoul but I am quite certain that the soul of PJ is not to be daft on issues like this. If anything if you have no issue criticizing this issue it seems that your soul is troubled.

Agreed.
Nonetheless you could still post the cartoon at your office without saying a word except when people criticize it then tell people that it pisses you off for them doing so.

I think it can go either way. it's a commentary on how dire the situation is and how so many nations have turned their backs on the refugee crisis.
like it or not, provocative gets attention.
