I support freedom of expression and freedom of speech. I have absolutely NO interest in criticizing this, and it really pisses me off that anyone else does.
PJfan, didn't you learn anything at all when Charlie Hebdo was murdered??
You wouldn't criticize it as being distasteful?
I don't see its distastefulness as relevant. My first reaction was that they're quite apt.

Yes. I learnt' that I am right that people do crazy fucked up things in the name of religion.

Not sure if you are just posting for the sake of peppering a thread or you are just trying to play advocate. If you feel that strongly about not criticizing this issue, freedom of speech, blah, blah, why don't you print a copy of that cartoon and post it at your work and say that to people who criticize the poster. I believe 100% that you would not put your actions to match your above words. I believe that you are being a little hypocritical.
I believe that the posted above thoughts by you as much as I believe you saw a floating ufo the size of a football field over your head.

You may call yourself pjsoul but I am quite certain that the soul of PJ is not to be daft on issues like this. If anything if you have no issue criticizing this issue it seems that your soul is troubled.

agreeing with and distributing a publication is WAY different than not criticizing it.

    Agreed.
Nonetheless you could still post the cartoon at your office without saying a word except when people criticize it then tell people that it pisses you off for them doing so.

For anyone not to say something negative about this latest publication is kind of going against the grain wouldn't you say? This latest cartoon is not about religion which is open season for mocking it's now crossed over into turning a parents dead child into comedy in some minds. Disturbing at the intent of the cartoon. Even more disturbing are the people with neutral opinions on this.

free society is free society. no grey area. why is religion open season but other things are not? that's the whole point.

I think it can go either way. it's a commentary on how dire the situation is and how so many nations have turned their backs on the refugee crisis.

like it or not, provocative gets attention.

    It sure does.
And again I say that not finding it provocative and to actually get pissed at others for criticizing it is pretty weird. It is supposed to elicit this attention it's currently getting.

They can print whatever they want. I don't have to like it, you don't have to like it....but they have every right to print it.

I find it sad that someone is more upset over this cartoon than the actual refugee crisis.

Of course they have every right to print it.
But they should not in any way be surprised at the reaction to this.
The refugee crisis is still ongoing and probably will never end. The lost life of that child brought more attention to it the shameful twisted mockery of it serves no purpose.

you can't have it both ways, though. either everything is open season or none of it is. there is no such thing as selective freedom. just because you/I don't believe in god, doesn't mean it isn't real to others. some hold it dearer to them than their own children. true.

and it's not weird at all. I don't want to put words in her mouth, but I gather she gives more weight to the freedom of printing something than what is actually printed itself, which I get.

and she didn't say she didn't find it provocative. those are your words. she said it was apt. which I can see why people would think so.

It was called apt later on. Which is a wrong assessment.
Saying that it pisses you off because people criticize it? - trying to wrap my head around that statement.
And I still believe these "apt" cartoons are not safe for work.

There are a lot of assumptions being made here. For one, I would NEVER just post for the sake of "peppering a thread". I don't even know why you'd consider that.
And yeah, it pisses me off. I'm not frothing at the mouth or anything. It just pisses me off. Just like a lot of things do. Like pro-lifers do. And Kim Davis. And any number of things that bother me.
Also, you don't know me at all, and have NO idea what I would and wouldn't do. And just so you know, I would absolutely post those cartoons at work without fear of anything. I work at a university and my employer values freedom of speech and expression fully. That said, I don't feel strongly enough about the point the cartoons are making to post it. It has nothing to do with being hypocritical. It's just that I'm not about to hang something up on my wall just to prove something to you. I put things up that really mean something to me and that I want to look at daily, and these cartoons don't qualify. But if they did, no problem. I'd cover my entire tack board with Hebdo cartoons if I felt strongly about them. At any rate, what is hypocritical?? I'm not even sure what you mean by that, given what I said.

As for your last sentence.... it makes no sense.
