Pearl Jam to perform on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert Eddie Vedder & pals set to rock on September 23rd by Michelle Geslani
This week, Stephen Colbert kicked off his Late Show era with a bang. Not only did he host a superjam of epic proportions featuring Ben Folds, Brittany Howard, and thee Mavis Staples, but he followed that up with a scorching performance from Kendrick Lamar.
It doesn’t look as though Colbert will be toning down the surprises anytime soon, either. Week three’s schedule has just been revealed and it includes more major star power. Especially exciting? Wednesday, September 23rd’s musical guests Pearl Jam.
Frontman Eddie Vedder helped bid adieu to David Letterman back in May, but it’s been some time since the whole band has graced the late-night stage. If you’ll recall, in 2013, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon lined up its own Pearl Jam week in honor of the band’s Lightning Bolt LP.
Perhaps Vedder & co. will debut some new music on the 23rd? Considering the grunge veterans are aiming to release an album in 2016, it might not be so far-fetched of an idea.
Other artists slated to perform later this month are The Dead Weather (9/14), Run The Jewels with TV on the Radio (9/15), Raury (9/22), and The Arcs (9/25).
play a new song. release the performance on the next annual single.
That's what I'm hoping for. Play a new song on the new Late Night show with Stephen Colbert. If it's a new song that won't be put on an album, then just press it for the '15 Christmas 7" single.

??? Is this a real rumour? I've been a little disconnected from here lately but only saw a minor, unenthusiastic mention by Jeff that they might start working on new songs next year. Where does this "aiming to release a new album" come from?

What are the odds thye do a warm up show at a small venue in NYC between Colbert and GC? I can't imagine they will leave the city between the two dates? Any guesses as to possible venues from the NYC fans?

It is entirely possible they have some full songs in the wings already, waiting to be fleshed out or reworked, who knows. Just be ause they wont get together to work on the new one, doesnt mean they have zero. Ole came out of nowhere, remember. Not everyone's fave, but the point is moo. Like a cows opinion. MOO!

They could play a showcase for Colbert's show there, at Ed Sullivan's. Remember that for the Late Show, bands just play one song, MAYBE two. Latest well known bands playing the show, also played a one-hour long webcast, which is usually broadcast live after the Late Show recording. That usually requires another ticket (meaning the crowd watching the show taping is not the same one at the concert). Hopefully that will be the case this time!

Just a heads up to anyone with tickets, I have friends that have gone and they totally overbook each night. Not everyone with a ticket gets in. Go early if you have tickets.

I noticed that in the ticket FAQ. Being on holidays, I don't want to spend the whole day in line, but what's a reasonable time to start lining up? 1pm? 2pm?
