So, you can easily find a used copy of Ten for $3 . This guy just paid $2847 for a tyvek sleeve with writing on it.

I'm gonna buy a pack of 100 sleeves and some assorted sharpies and hope I run into Jeff.

ah, that's the beauty of being a PJ fan and being a collector of merch. Some of us like picks, some of us posters, some of us signed items, and some of us CDs, vinyl etc. To each their own and to whomever secured it, congrats as I'm sure it was your grail and white whale

What have these gone for in the past?

Good question and very much depends on the period of time you were interested in. Back in the late 90's you could pick these up for as little as $100, naturally time moves on, and looking back to say 2006/2007, you couldn't get one for less for $2200-2500.

I have a glut of auctions saved at home, detailing past prices and can recall 4 that sold in 06/07 that had values like this

    $2350
    $2500
$2830 (to include the reeenk roink sony letter - Norwegian seller)
followed by the guy who had sold on an auction at $2350 listing another at $1999 BIN. That was snapped up quickly by an old collector from the Uk. That RR is now sat in the states.

Moving on from that period, a few reeenks appeared that were incomplete, like a disc without the sleeve, the other matrix with the handwritten disc and no sleeve, and one with the incorrect matrix In the incorrect sleeve. A bit of a mish mash of affairs. Most ended around $1600-1750.

One sold around 2012 for $2300 with a sleeve (blue pen), and then since then the market has largely been starved of actual auctions for them. There have been a few random bargains pop up that have been jumped on, when a seller has posted one for $500. But by way of the market setting the price, there hasn't been many examples, but there has been a ton of people appearing wanting one, so the next one to hit ebay was always going to have a pretty biting demand. So we find ourselves where we are now, at $2850, which frankly isn't a surprise whatsoever.

To be honest it wouldn't have surprised me if it had gone for more.

The next question being though - will this price flush a few more out into the market?

A reeenk roink is always going to be considered the crown jewel and centrepiece of any pearl jam collection, so whilst it may only be a cdr with a handwritten sleeve it will always be sought after, in short supply, and naturally much more valuable that the ten cd we can all go and buy in a shop. But then it probably does require a collectors warped brain to fully understand how on earth this can make sense

Yeah I've seen perhaps 30 different ones over the years.

There are collectors with 4 reeenks each, plus there are all the ones in the well known photo matrix which does the rounds, many on the two feet thick article

    Certainly not more than 40

Allegedly a few hundred were made back in the day (EVs words ) so how many survived those 24 years is a mystery still

A term used by Jeff in an early fan club letter to describe Pearl Jam's creation.

If you think that's insane, if the winner lives outside the USA, he or she would have to pay over $500 US just for customs fee that was added to this listing. On a CD!

Just imagine if the seller shipped out that CD in a regular bubble mailer & it cracked during shipping? A CD like this & it's value should be shipped in a bomb proof package.

I hear ya... if you've got that much to splurge on a CD, you've probably done pretty well.
