3??? Damn!!! I hope your bro finished college at least. Maybe he should chip in.

So do you have any other reenk roinks now or would this have been your first "replacement"?

Yeah he finished... lucky for him or i would have been justified to murder him!

I did get another about 3 years ago for a price I don't want to admit publicly. A lot more than this one though... and not signed... so this one was quite the deal in that regard.

Back then I just unfortunately sold the wrong stuff - should've sold off my vinyl and not the Reeenks and other unique items. It was a rushed decision and I was trying to get the most $$ quickly. Ahh family... :)

The seller's info is out there, and there's nothing more I can do than leave negative feedback.

Really this is the fault of the person/people who contacted the seller and told them to cancel and sell to them. Sure it's the seller's fault, but if we're to pretend on here we're looking out for each other, blowing up other people's finalized deals is beyond dirty.

This same thing happened to me a few months ago after a pair of people on here knew I had paid for it, and they *still* gave the seller a hard time about me buying it for what the seller asked for it. Then when I asked them why they did it (after I had to pay 2x the amount to get it), they said "You should feel lucky you got it that cheap."

But hey, what are friends for?

This really pisses me off. That is just blatant assholery. I understand why you're not naming names - because you are a better friend than they are. But I wish someone would tell us who this person or these people are, so that we can know who to avoid.

I'm trying to leave names out - I really, really, really hope they will come and talk to me and work something out.

I don't think it would be fair for others to speculate on what I'm saying. I hope that they either come out and say "Yeah I did it, whatever man" or contact me behind the scenes and work it out. The seller gave me some info but obviously would prefer that the people/person who blew it up come to me and talk to me first.

I'm not trying to take the high road, but I would like to think that if I goofed and undercut someone's paid and done deal they'd give me a chance to go to them and make it right... even if it has now happened a few times.

Just as I don't want someone blowing up other people's deals that are done and paid, I wouldn't want anyone running out naming names before they had a chance to contact the screwed over buyer. It's now been over 48 hours and they've seen multiple conversations across here and other platforms, but holding out hope still for at least a little bit...

It's a bummer to see phrases like "pillars of the board" thrown out to leave everyone to speculate. Certainly applies to a handful of people in my mind...and everyone probably has their own lists in their minds...which means that the perceived reputation of some good people are unnessarily being tarnished.

And there are people here that fit that bill and genuinely do a lot of good that deserve better.

It may be time to confront the person that wronged you (and you were wronged) in private and settle this rather than have this drag on here like this.

Good luck man - and I hope you find a resolution to this soon.

Someone from the board pulled a pretty shady move. I'm glad he brought it to our attention. I personally think he's exhibited way more restraint than necessary. Hopefully the guy who threw the low blow will make it right.

I don't want people to speculate... I'm truly hoping they'll reply and make it right. But of course the people who did it are big time collectors, so no need to sugar coat tha:
    1. The listing wasn't up more than 10 minutes before I saw it. Was sitting around killing time on the phone as I was visiting my mom out of town who is going through chemo and can't do much... so lots of time just sitting around.
    2. So basically the new buyer checks completed auctions religiously to see this one had ended.
    3. I bought/paid for it at 6PM eastern time, got email confirmation about 20-30 minutes later. Then next morning about 9AM eastern time I get the refund/cancel.
    4. The new buyer had to see it at $1200 and offer substantially more to get a seller to refund/cancel... so that would also limit it further.
    5. I did not start this thread or the one on Facebook. I sent a few messages to a group about the refund hoping they'd contact me directly, but instead ignored the messages entirely and not even a "sorry bro" comment. I was trying to keep it out of sight to get it worked out, but these threads started and being quite bitter a "friend" did this (again), I did jump in to let people know the winner of the listing didn't get it anyway thanks to that.

So maybe using the words "pillars" of the community is too loaded, but clearly the people aren't casual collectors.

Hopefully he'll/they'll finally make it right... losing hope, but figure being friends for 3+ years should earn that.

Oh, and to add insult to injury... this was the seller's confirmation email to me after the auction ended:

    "Hi Josh,

Thanks for your purchase. How does it feel to be in an elite league? LOL

I will ship this out tomorrow. I plan to send UPS 3-Day select. Do you want me to add any insurance to package or require signature for delivery?

    Thanks again. Hope you enjoy!"

    Josh,
stop 2nd guessing yourself. after 48 hours these "friends" of yours haven't reached out to you when they know they are truly wrong. sorry bro, they seem to be totally asses. Like I said before, I hope one day you get one of the coolest pieces in pj history. You did nothing wrong my friend. Take care.

    Hey guys...

Please don't message anyone speculating who might've tanked the deal. I should have been much more clear immediately that my intent was for the person to come talk to me, and not to have anyone messaging others. I only have small details on this one... that gives me an idea but until I were to be 100% sure with undeniable confirmation this needs to die off.

I'm really bummed/mad/crushed about this, and I'm really bummed/crushed about some other things that have gone down before this from a few collectors, but let's just let the thread die. If they want to come talk to me... please do. If not I guess it's a hard lesson being learned.

Thanks to those who has had kind comments on this - I really do appreciate that.

This thread is the perfect example of the dangers of an Internet witch hunt. Not to mention an absolute embarrassment

Returned from holiday on Friday after being away for two weeks to a glut of messages pointing me to this thread. Some friendly some not so much - with the underlying message that the very brave whisper crew were holding me responsible.

So I'll start by being extremely clear. And I mean 100%. On holiday I spend time with my family. Quality time. My family mean a whole lot more to me than searching fucking eBay every ten minutes. In fact I can tell you all - I didn't look at eBay during my time in Turkey. Not one pearl jam search. I disconnected largely from the world and enjoyed every minute of it.

So imagine my disappointment to get home to find this complete load of bollocks waiting for me. Imagine the even bigger disappointment to find people I considered friends having been pointing the finger, and even worse - doing so behind my back. Yes they lacked the balls to even confront me. They are the true macho types. Believe me I know who you are, and I don't forget. It saddens me to lose a number of friends in this way but then they were nothing but leaching friends anyway - hanging on to hopefully get some nice items in the future. Well a message to all those folk - fuck you all. I'm genuinely appalled and disgusted at it all. Some community spirit eh?

Monkee was right there are two sides to every coin. But you guys all lapped it up here. The best bit, it transpires no one has a clue who bought the disc. Not one idea. Yes I spoke to Josh last night before posting here, I believed he deserved that courtesy as no one wants to jump the gun right? Josh was to his credit very quick to point out he personally never thought it was me and had corrected at least one person to confirm as much. However even Josh has no idea who bought that disc. So the attempt to hopefully flush out a rogue friend by public pressure was ill conceived at best. I followed up and contacted the seller who is adamant that after the interest created by his auction he was steadfast in the stance that he had decided to keep the cd. So if that's true - the cd never went anywhere. So what was this story every going achieve ? Presumptions and reading between the lines is a very dangerous game. A witch hunt that never had a witch ... Well I hope you all enjoyed it.

Some have commented that collectors like to try and fix prices and drive them high to keep collections valuable ? What are you people sniffing ? Seriously. I'm gonna be clear again. I couldn't give a flying fuck what my collection is worth because to me it's worthless. It's not going to be sold so it's entirely irrelevant. I certainly wouldn't jump on an eBay auction in the hope of driving up a great deal to protect a cd sat in my home. Do you people actually think before you log on here and type just absolute nonsense?

How many of those doubters know that it was me that organized Josh's first reeenk roink three years ago ( I mean the first in his second phase of collecting) and helped him secure a complete collection at an excellent price that completely set him back up again. How many of you know josh has a signed Reeenk roink as well, with the old style sig with the same green pen sleeve? Don't get me wrong I'm not excusing the way that auction went down - not at all, that is not good business and I would undoubtedly be as equally pissed off.... But there is some comfort in the fact that this wasn't filling a whole in a collection, it was almost an exact duplicate to one of the two already owned. The stinger being this was no doubt a much better price and a true bargain on the face of it. Like I say this isn't thrown in there to downplay whatever did happen as Josh has every reason to be pissed. An auction is an auction and once the hammer goes down that should be it.

Although saying that - how much is a RR worth these days? Obviously until we have a fresh auction we won't know - but the ones since 2008 have hardly reached incredible heights. This one was cheap I believe but it would be interesting to see just how cheap it was. The early Ed sig however would in my mind have set it apart from the average reeenk out there.

But the online judges in this thread don't surprise me. For years I've watched those most argent and vocal anti flippers and 'Saints' set up discreet profiles and flip away on eBay in the belief they were conning people. Again you know who you are, but it always entertained me. The ripe hypocrisy is never too far away.

Over the years I've done my best to bring nice items here and help a ton of people secure very nice items. I've enjoyed it and I did it because I loved the hobby.... Look at the thanks and look at what this place has become.

Anyway it's nice to know I can now call myself a pillar. What a privilege.

Am I disappointed ? Absolutely - but I'm more disgusted.

With that, those who talked about me this last few days, do me a favor and never contact me again, that is unless you have the balls to do it man to man and not hide behind your keyboards and behind the scenes. Pathetic.

And keep those messages coming - I won't be replying. But anyone who doesn't believe me here - feel free to contact me for my eBay login and PayPal screens.... I will prove what I need to, that you are a fool.

It also has to do with them saying they don't make any money or perks off running giant sales of rare shit. Well before this discussion this week anybody with half a brain knew that was COMPLETE BULLSHIT.

Go on Chris, whom are you referring to here.... Let's not beat around the bush and point poisoned fingers thinking we're all cool and the big man. Whom are you referring to here. Please enlighten. Or feel free to pm me.

    I'm waiting

He does so much to help people out finding items for collections, and runs stuff for some charities. Sorry this went down like this to both Josh and now Paul. :peace:
