Is "man card" is still relevant in 2015?

Man card? Enlighten me please
A concept imagined by dude-bros to who require affirmation of their manliness. It can be revoked when a man does not behave like an alpha - such as (apparently) listening to Taylor Swift or doing something his girlfriend/wife wants to do.
"Dylan's not coming over for the game because his woman is making him go to 'Fall Foliage Days.' Dude's totally lost his man card."
I guess I better get rid of my Kacey Musgraves tickets before I lose mine!

 Thank you. I remembered that Google existed and I looked it up, but I like your explanation better.
  • like it or not both artists have massive songwriting talent. especially ryan.
i think it's a cool move him doing it.
and anyone who can write a song like this has my life long respect.

If there's anyone that will be able to make that shit sound good, it's Ryan Adams.

Agreed. Taylor Swift is vastly overrated but Ryan Adams is terrific.

As much as I hate to admit it i actually like most of TS music. Yes its my guilty pleasure artist, though I usually pretend to not like her. :)Not a huge fan of 1989 as its too on the pop side for me, but she is a very talented song writer. The Ryan Adams version is awesome. Shows how strong the songs are, very interesting side project.

And for those looking for more music from RA he said in an interview this week has completed a new double album, so this did not take the place of him making his own music.

    I don't get it
A fourty something and an auto tune specialist?
How could they have anything in common sorry but I can't relate.

I'd prefer new a Ryan Adams album to a disposable bubble gum pop album geared to people with a lack of options.
He must have been in a really low place to be listening that shit.

Why didn't he release the Strokes cover album?

Sorry folks but he's missed the mark and his target audience by a long shot.

Because we can all relate to jaded
    women in there twenties right?

  • Its a big hit with his target audience actually. His fans are responding pretty positively. As are critics.

Also, I don't really get a jaded vibe from TSwift or her music as disposable bubblegum pop. I think its a lazy accusation actually. By all accounts she is an incredibly talented songwriter and performer. Just because her target audience is young, doesn't mean she is less talented as anyone you rate as great.
  • I'm starting to come around on this. It's taken some time but the Blank Space cover is really great.

I like that it's a different take on something people know and I admit it sounds interesting but really?
Nobody will be listening to Taylor Swift in 20 years especially in this Instagram or it's not relevant generation

I'm a Ryan Adams fan and as a fan I know that you could have Ryan sitting there for two hours telling jokes no music and people would still go.

    The guy can sell anything!
    A true artist.

Sorry not trying to be a jerk just my saying.

    Damn IPhone :(
I have two girls (11 and 8) so they keep my in touch with most pop stuff  , but I have followed TS since the beginning...being from TN, I kinda knew about her early.

I think her album Speak Now is more of a presentation of what she is capable of.. she wrote every song on the album, and most are VERY good.

This POP stage she is in now, is something I think she just wanted to try. I think she has the skills to carry her career as long as she wants too.

  • Yeah, she's in it for the long run. And the fact that she is only 26 or whatever means she still has another decade of relevancy ahead of her.

2LP version up at his UK site.

Does it include the bonus track of Taylor's European-only 1989 release that included a bonus track?

  • This is my first Ryan Adams purchase and I am far from a Taylor Swift fan, but buy this album. It is great.

'Shake it Off' reminds me of Springsteen's 'I'm on Fire'. Maybe it's the snare(?) drum. And the echo. And the way Ryan sings it- very growly.

I think the whole album is pretty damn good. Just listened to it for the first time now (have never heard the album by Swift before and she isn't my style, and I haven't really gone for Ryan Adams himself much besides select live songs... I guess when they both combine their talents something I actually like is created, lol).
