Pearl Jam to Headline Global Citizen Festival

Anyone from past experience know if it's possible to hang on the perimeter of Central Park and hear the concert? We live in Brooklyn and I just want to know whether to try to randomly hang out there or just try to watch it on MSNBC at home. I did everything possible to get tickets. It's been a really, really tough year after two miscarriages, and my husband and I just want to hear our favorite band, --whose music can make it all feel okay. After all these years in NYC I actually don't know if you can hear anything from the outside during a concert.....

Don't know if this has been posted, but got an e-mail and saw an FB post saying:

"PSSST! This just in: Doors to the Global Citizen Festival will open as soon as there's enough people in the park! Get there between 12-2 to be the first one in."

    Email source?

OK, nevermind. Just saw the post on Facebook from Global Citizen :)

Between 12-2? They have significantly underestimated music fans. Especially Pearl Jam fans.

Looking back now, that e-mail was a notification of a post from Global Citizen in their event page...saw it last night right after I turned on my phone after Colbert, and as you can imagine, my mind wasn't quite straight yet :)

Did get an e-mail last night from Global Citizen (Tom Blake) saying, "I can't stress this enough: you'll really want to open all the emails you received from us until the Festival."

Guess lots more admin/logistics-type e-mails to come for more info!

I'm taking my girlfriend with me to GCF and have a few questions for those who have been to the festival in the past. For starters, how tightly do they pack people into the GA pens? Are you standing shoulder to shoulder with everyone or can you find places where you have a little more space? Also, I read that you can't bring in chairs but are they really strict about the no blankets thing? Is it realistic to find places on the lawn or elsewhere to sit down if we don't feel like standing for several hours?

As long as you don't press yourself against the rail of the pen there is plenty of room to chill and sit. I always bring a beach towel for fear they will take a blanket away but I have seen plenty of blankets.

Thank you fellow 10 clubber for saving my ass....again!!!

Yes, no alcohol except for VIP 1. I have heard the same from people that went in past years.
Time for the ole flexible flask taped to the taint LOL

Eddie better throw me a bottle of juice in VIP 3! Total BS they are not providing alcohol for the attendees. How the hell are we going to get through the load of speakers?

How tough is security as far as once you're in the crowd and smoking???

Show starts at 4 correct? If im not wild about the other performers (which I'm not) showing up around 330 for VIP3 won't be terrible right?

Question for anyone. We have 4 tickets - two were bought thru ten club and are VIP2 GA3, and two were just bought thru ticket master and are VIP2 GA4. My husband and I are taking our two kids - do they have "different" GA pens within the VIP2 section? Very pumped!

no, you will all be together in the same pen. the pen itself is VIP2.. the "ga2, ga3, ga4" etc is just for ticketmaster and it means nothing. ga3 is the same as ga4, its just how they generate a seat number for the ga tickets.

    youre good to go..

My +1 is my younger sister who is a fan of Beyonce, Coldplay, and Ed Sheeran...sent her Small Town, and the task of memorizing it so she can at least sing along to 1 song with her big sis! Hopefully she's got it down by Saturday! :)

Yeah. Other than people going with mistresses or girlfriends they need to impress why would you suffer the rest?

For those of you with the normal GA tix what time are you planning on going in. I really don't want to spend the entire day sitting through speeches and Coldplay but then again don't want to be standing at the back for the show....

My thinking too, get on line by 1PM. I'd like to go earlier, but my sister isn't too on board. Gonna be a challenge to convince her to do 1PM, but that's my plan.
