I've never heard that before and I'm no expert on this but I'm surprised you say that. If that's so, why when a baby is born doesn't the doctor say, "Your baby has arrived. Well, what'll it be? Girl or Boy?", instead of, "Congratulation, it's a girl", or "Congratulation, it's a boy"?

That, to me, seems hard to argue against. They may do these things, but we don't allow kids smoke or drink or have sex or drive before a certain age or go to war (etc.), so why would we allow them to take those kinds of meds or cut up their privates? That would not make sense, so I agree with you.

That depends on what those questions and concerns are. If the nature of those questions and concerns are about the validity of being trans, absolutely. I think it's an awareness problem, and if those questions and concerns are an attempt at good faith understanding, no: that's not anti-trans.
To me, there should be no debate on whether trans people exist and have rights. People that don't believe so deserve derision, just like anyone that would deny the existence and rights of any other marginalized group.

when it comes to sports, trans-women in most cases have unfair advantage from male physiology and hormones over the course of their life women do not and cannot compete with realistically.
Flip side trans-men are at a disadvantage competing against males in a given sport.
now those folks who had benefit of hormone blockers and replacement therapies might have leveled that playing field , at least somewhat.
so what's the answer?
I think from a physiological standpoint alone, Trans folks compete amongst themselves.
is that diminishing? IDK. But I do think we can't overlook the hardwork women put in to their chosen sport to be "equal" because clearly it is not.

who is in this situation, where she is currently identifying as a trans
girl. She decided this when she was 14 (I think she just turned 16). Her
parents are incredibly supportive, even though they were blindsided by
this decision completely. There is a hitch here though. Actually,
several hitches. First, like I mentioned, this was a complete blindside.
Literally nobody saw it coming, not even in hindsight, which is rather
unusual. Usually there are some signs at least in retrospect. Secondly,
and this is VERY concerning: This kid is a gifted child and goes to a
gifted school. Hold on to your hats here, because it's disturbing.
Apparently 70% of her grade 9 class at the time she decided to come out
with this news ALSO identified as trans. Like, for real. But this
doesn't seem to be a quick fad. It's been 2 years now. I should also
note that she is dating and very in love with a trans male. So
technically sexual preference hasn't changed at all. So I'm not ever
going to bother addressing the elephants in the room. Obviously her
parents are concerned that she isn't truly trans. Therefore, they
discussed very seriously the options with their kid, and even she agrees
that no medical steps will be taken, plus she agreed to see a
psychiatrist to at the very least have professional help dealing with
such a transition.
Long story short, I don't know how this
will turn out, but I won't be surprised in the least that she goes back
to being a he at some point. I don't consider that a given at all, but
it would not be surprising. And this 70% of the class identifying as
trans thing... well that is obviously very surprising and seems strange.
The school won't allow the parents to really interfere on the school
level, although I would say that this is a peer social phenomenon rather
than something the teachers are doing. In any case, I don't actually
think this is really bad (I know many do), but it certainly is
fascinating. I mean, it could signify a real change in how people will
view sexual development and gender identity issues in adolescence as
society evolves. I really don't see that as a negative or a positive,
just a really interesting thing to ponder and pay attention to. The
thing is, if acceptance of exploring alternative gender identifies is SO
widely accepted in their peer group, I don't think I actually see the
harm in that kind of exploration. The problems really come when there is
not acceptance. All that said, this story explains why I support NOT
allowing hormonal or surgical treatments for minors.

Interesting story, and I think it brings up a good point which I believe (I won't make any claims here to being an expert), I believe that very often what these kids are experiencing is a common issue of questioning their sexuality. Paul Westerberg worded it very well in that great song, "Sixteen Blue":

I had a really good friend in my early college days who was smart, good looking, etc., and our other friends and I were always a little in awe of the beautiful women he attracted (and visa versa). So we were all in mild shock when one day he told us he was coming out and living with a guy. It just seemed so incongruous with who we perceived him to be. But then it turned out to be kind of a phase and he eventually married a woman and had kids and remained heterosexual until the end of his life (sadly dying of cancer in his 50s). So if this change of mind can happen to a man in his early 20s, the same can certainly happen with kids. Or not, of course. The point being, I would tell a kid, "For Pete's sake, don't undergo surgery or take related medications or whatever until you given yourself lime to grow up some more. Question? Sure. Experiment safely? Yeah, why not. Just don't do something rash. You have your whole life ahead of you!"

I saw a great documentary on HBO years ago...wish I could remember the title, but I was amazed at how many trans people did just that, changed their sexual identity from male to female then dated/married a female to male.
That statistic on 70% is kind of amazing. I think some of these stats relate to this just being in the mainstream more. Ever since the dawn of man there have been homosexuals and transgendered people. They were just too abused and mistreated to emerge.

I do keep hearing (from the GOP) the arguments about schools promoting sex change operations, doctors encouraging 8 years olds to "get the surgery", etc. but I have yet to see any solid evidence of this. My guess is that there may have been some isolated cases and they are just getting blown out of proportion by the far right social media garbage machine.

My guess is that there may have been some isolated cases and they are just getting blown out of proportion by the far right social media garbage machine.
The right would like you to believe that this is a common occurrence of the sick liberal left and that there’s a vast conspiracy to force sex changes on everyone’s kids, from mothers who want their sons to be daughters, to gay teachers and health care professionals who want more gay people in society so their dating odds improve and that kids are being taken kicking and screaming and having their genitalia mutilated. They want you to believe it’s abuse and shouldn’t be allowed and yet they can’t point to any arrests or court cases of the abuser or abused being tried or rescued. All they can do is make ridiculous claims because they don’t agree nor approve of how some families choose to raise their children. Hey, but social media says it’s happening just like Comet Pizza was real.

That, to me, seems hard to argue against. They may do these things, but we don't allow kids smoke or drink or have sex or drive before a certain age or go to war (etc.), so why would we allow them to take those kinds of meds or cut up their privates? That would not make sense, so I agree with you.
Sure. I also won't argue with "walking down the street and punching everyone in the face is physical abuse." But how often do either of these things occur?
