Whenever possible, I mix my own projects and recordings (mixing is my favorite), so I try to get outside ears on the mastering process. I really like these guys:

Golden Mastering (I worked with John, but I like the stuff JJ has done): http://www.goldenmastering.com/

Dynamic Sound Service (Blake is great, and a bit more affordable): http://dynamicsoundservice.com/

I worked on one particular project years ago, a really long album process that took a lot out of me, and the mastering that the band chose was not my preference. It still bothers me to listen to that album a little. Find a mastering engineer you like, and they're worth their weight in gold.

I was able to contact Blake in early December, but since then his website is down, and I'm getting rejected e-mails. Bummer.

  • ATY, your ghostwriter songs are like Mazzy Star and Sonic Youth's love child. Good stuff!
If I was to smile and I held out my hand
If I opened it now would you not understand?

Glad it all worked out, I've always known Blake to be a pretty stand-up and reliable guy.

...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.

Blake is mastering a song for me - can't wait to share it with you guys! If it turns out well I think Matt & I might use him for our upcoming album.

Its been "slightly" talked about. We are "sort of" planning a pod cast at 10 or 12 songs, that would probably be broken up into two or three podcasts, where each song is played then we have a little discussion etc about each song. I don't know if there is a interest there from people to hear that. But I think we as a group (Shelley, Greg and I) have a interest in doing that.

But again thank you so much for taking the time to listen....
