@juddboz80, I generally think it's ridiculous to be trading something new , no matter what the market value is, for something that's been around for years. Vinyl, posters, anything. However a trade's as good as what both parties agree on, so as long as both sides are happy, that's fine, but I personally won't do it.
@Duncs, the appeal to me of the Vinyl Films box set was that it's a collection of 10" records lovingly saved over time from when they first released back in 2003. It was only after I read the post on Vinyl Film's Facebook page (too long to post here, but it's in the thread on Porch somewhere) that I desperately felt like I needed it. OK, wanted it Oh, and @pdalowsky's fault too
I'm thinking about going back to cassette tapes. Now, if I can get everyone else onboard, Kevin & I might be able to get vinyl at a reasonable price!
I was thinking about this comment last night when I realized I have several pieces of electronic equipment that I no longer use!! I have a 5-disc CD player, a cassette deck, a standard DVD player and even an old VHS machine in my entertainment center that I haven't even powered up in at least 5 years!!!! I'll join Scott & Kevin and go back to cassettes... I'll have to clean the heads on my tape deck, but I'm betting it will still work!!

A project I have had on the backburner is to convert all my VHS tapes to DVD and digital... (by VHS tapes, I mean all sorts of old hockey and football games, hockey fights, miscellaneous stuff I taped, VHS camcorder stuff.

I would suggest going to straight digital and saving yourself some time, you can always then burn to dvd or bluray.
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?
There are a bunch of these USB type devices available, most in the $30 - $50 range. There are also cards for your PC that will give you better performance than a USB device and have more encoding options to chose from.

I guess that makes sense too because it will be easier to lop off crap that I dont want and cut/organize better.
Also thinking.... I guess I can probably just toss tapes with Simpsons, 3 Stooges, etc on VHS.
