Oh, the discogs sellers also have the same prices. From my experience the first few records go for decent prices, then after ebay auction prices rise, so does discog prices. I did a quidk search on discogs for these records, and god d**N, they are pricey...

For sure dude. Will keep an eye out. Definitely didn't get them for cost price or near, and converting to AUD was with pain....but still got them at a good enough price where I didn't feel totally bent over.

Everything is moving around so much its hard to say what the value is.

The boxsets can be had at stores for around $50 if you can find them. On ebay they can be $150+ but I've seen as low as $130 and as high as well over $200.

Lavender used to be 120ish for a while but has taken a small dip recently with people selling their mystery vinyl copies. So right now would probably be a good time to buy that one since I've seen a few go as low as $60, but most I think are still closer to $100.

The black version was going around $60 for the longest time but has since spiked a it because of interest with the boxset. I've seen some go closer to $100 but then I've also seen some priced at $100 sit around.

I don't think there's a firm "value" on them right now -- too much fluctuation as everyone tries t get sorted out, but that's about the values flying around in the last few weeks at least on ebay.

The people who have them will say more valuable while the people who are looking for them will say less valuable!!

As with everything, the price is high now for the boxset but the question is will it go down since they are so limited or once the collectors all get them will they rise in value due to not many copies being available anymore??

Not to mention that people are still waiting for lots of stores to still get their copies in with the delay in shipping, so I don't think they've all hit the shelves for retail yet.

I keep seeing crazy trade requests like the lavender record for older stuff, or am I crazy thinking that the lavender vinyl isn't worth that much??
Cant buy what i want cause its free....

I agree, however I don't think any stores are still waiting for copies, I think most have hit the shelves and are gone at this point. There might be a few stores marking up the price and putting them online (wrong!) but I think that's were it's at with the set.
Wouldn't it be funny if the world ended in 2010, with lots of fire?

You raise many valid points & questions. I think, from what I've read so far, there are 500 black vinyl copies, 400 of the 10 Club version & 500 total of clear boxset. When you consider that there are only 2000, give or take, of the Benny's and how they have risen in value, will this do the same? Now I know there's a world of difference in the amount of music contained on each and really this set is not for every Pearl Jam fan. But, to the completist's, it become's a "must have". Will be interesting to see, as time goes by, whether this become's coveted or the "heat" it has now slowly fades. Oh yeah, Bump for you Adam!

I think that it was 400 black, 400 lavender plus the 500 clear in the boxset.

It isn't just the PJ fans with this boxset though, all the Kozelek/Sun Kil Moon fans are pretty hard core and some of the prices you see for their vinyl is in line with PJ albums - which potentially drives the long term market even higher for the set.

Don't forget there's really only 350 of the clear set as 150 went to the bands and friends of the bands.

Nevermind the box of McCready's Music for Film 10" that went "missing" and ended up on ebay.

So for the collector out there, is it the box that's worth the value or just McCready's contribution?

@juddboz80, I generally think it's ridiculous to be trading something new , no matter what the market value is, for something that's been around for years. Vinyl, posters, anything. However a trade's as good as what both parties agree on, so as long as both sides are happy, that's fine, but I personally won't do it.

@Duncs, the appeal to me of the Vinyl Films box set was that it's a collection of 10" records lovingly saved over time from when they first released back in 2003. It was only after I read the post on Vinyl Film's Facebook page (too long to post here, but it's in the thread on Porch somewhere) that I desperately felt like I needed it. OK, wanted it :) Oh, and @pdalowsky's fault too

I called my local store and reserved a copy before the release date, they told me that they hadn't even heard of it or couldn't find how to even order it but took my number and name, I called back on the release date and they said they had 3-4 coming but they had a delay in shipping them to alot of stores and I would get a call when they came in. Well I got a call last Friday or Saturday and said they arrived and I could come pick up. They also had said they were really lucky to have gotten them so early since there were many delays and most stores hadn't gotten there shipments yet as as last Friday or Saturday!

Completely agree, but with these being so limited they could really rise in value over the next year since the different colors of wax are so limited it could be interesting to see what they will bring!

i dont see these things rising over time. IMO it is all mania for now driven by a 'seller's market'. Itll die down and these wont really be coveted by anyone anymore.

I'm ready for the next cool thing to come along. When will the vinyl craze begin diminishing returns, I will honestly be glad to buy records when their not cool anymore for 1/3 of the prices now.

Maybe 8 tracks will make a comeback and everyone will want to ditch vinyl?!
I'm just tired of the ridiculous prices dictated by eBay. People keep buying, so the prices keep creeping up.

I'm thinking about going back to cassette tapes. Now, if I can get everyone else onboard, Kevin & I might be able to get vinyl at a reasonable price!
