I don't have any more answers. I get the feeling we should stop saying the song Ed played by name. I've learned my lesson! Can't wait to talk about it after it airs!

I think it was pretty obvious it was going to be what they did. No? Man of the Hour is way too obscure for Daves final week.

Why was it obvious? Everyone was guessing black.

We knew it would be a well known song, written by Ed. That narrows it down to about three songs. Most of the hits were from Stone's riff factory in the early days.

It was jammed out with a pick flick, spit and a broken string with jumps and windmills. Eddie was spot on and got into it when the orchestra started to feel it. NICE!

    10C annual single material?

Substitute Paul for Boom, put the audience singing the intro and voila! One heck of a nice version for a tour.

This is also like the fifth "version" of bman, BTW.

    Studio
    Walmer Street version
    Original Bad Radio version
    Guitar/Organ mix version
    This version...

    Any others??

Eddie fought thru it and made it awesome rocking out at the end but it seemed like he was really uncomfortable for a bit, possibly cause the band wasnt on tempo... anyone else get that feeling?

Yeah, I'm re-watching now and the band tries to do some sort of jammy-improv thing during the "whoooaaahhh" part at the end. The guitarist for the CBS band tries to do some sort of Mike-style improv and, IMO, it's really not working.

I thought it worked, they were good. Stating the obvious, but none of them are Stone, Mike, Jeff, Matt and Bootm.

    ^^^^yep.

It was clearly EVs gift to Dave, but he seriously brought it. The band looked like they loved every second of it too.

Fighting through it is a good way to say it. I was stunned at the weirdness of the whole performance. His rocking out at the end seemed totally out of place. Uncomfortable for me to watch and listen. I don't know if it was the band behind him or if it was just him.

Don't get me wrong. I still love Eddie Vedder and the band and will never stop going to live shows as long as they play. But television exposes the weakness in his voice, and it makes me sad.

I thought the jumps and windmills were weird. I wanted him to stop. I thought for the first time ever tonight that . . . he just looks too old to be doing that. I think it was the buttoned up suit that did it. I think. I don't know. I'm still trying to process what I just saw.

Yes and yes. I thought it was really cool. Better man is not one of my favorite songs but I likes this performance.

I disagree on his voice on TV. I was shocked tonight at how rough he sounded. Previously he's sounded great. His last appearance...Without You was phenomenal.
His antics with Paul's band was weird. The whole rockstar thing seemed out of place.
