    Wow, Speedy, what a change of events. Hate to hear when someone treats a good employee like shit. I've been there! You sound like you have the situation in hand.     You'd think a company that thought enough of your skills and experience to promote you would stand by you, would at least react more professionally.

    It's good you've seen this now, acted upon it now, and resolved it now!

    Ok here it goes.

    Was offered the management position by the GM. Was told this came straight from the OWNER. He wanted ME to have this position. A day later, the head dispatcher confronts me when I punch in. He is LIVID, he asks me if I was offered the position, I say "yes", he asks why HE wasn't asked for his input. I respond "I have no idea." He responds......Because the owner is an IDIOT and the GM. is nothing but a liar.......Ok, whatever. I could care less what he thinks.

    A day later I am asked to do everyone a favor and cover another shift and work a completely different route for a couple days. Sure no problem. Well, those 2 days turn in to 2 work weeks.
    When I come back to my normal shift after 2 weeks, I found out that my route has been taken away and given to a new hire. I really didn't care, due to the fact I was going to move into the office. Well, some time passes and NOBODY has said a word to me about going in to the office. June 1st was the supposed starting date. In the meantime this dispatcher has me running around like a chicken with his head cutoff, while the new guy has it made in the shade, running my route.

    Then I find out that I will NOT be getting the new position in the office. I was already aware that obviously something has changed because it is into June, and I am still driving the fucking truck!!!
    The GM has not said a WORD to me in a month. I am not stupid. Something happened. Then it dawns on me that the only person who had issues with me getting the promotion was MR. Dispatcher! Did he sabotage(love that word) my position? Did he somehow convince the GM. and owner to not give me the position? HMMMMM

    I decide to just say fuck it, and keep on working. Though now my route has been stripped from me, and I am working like a fool, and not happy. But I decide to just keep working. Well, last week they hire another new driver, and start him a couple hours after me. Within 2 days I realize ALL MY OVERTIME has just been taken away from me. POOF! Its gone. Well, that's that! I make a few phone calls, get myself a couple interviews, and decide to move on with my life.

    A position I was offered....A position that other people in management were congratulating me on, was somehow NOT given to me.
    My route was stripped from me....
    My overtime was taken away.

    Time to move on right?

    Well, tomorrow I will fill you all in on how everything went even MORE SOUR, when I gave my 2 week notice today.

    I was sent a letter from the owner, just a few of us "senior" drivers were sent a letter. The owner was informing us that he wanted to "buy back" our 3rd week of vacation. If we were willing to sell back our 3rd week of vacation, he would in turn give us a small raise. But that 3rd week of vacation would be GONE forever. We would never see that 3rd week again.

    WHO THE FUCK DOES THAT?
    I have never heard of such a thing.
    Why after working SO LONG to get that 3rd week, would I want to GIVE IT BACK for a $20 a week raise?

    Is it me? Or is that just fucking goofy as all hell?

    Then as the letter went on, he informed us that at any point he could refuse our 3rd week of vacation. He also stated that we can only use our 3rd week at certain times of the year. So in other words he was dictating when we could take our vacation, but actually he was truly letting us know that one way or another, he is going to TAKE BACK that 3rd week. Right?

    He was going to take it back. In fact because you mentioned them hiring new guys it sounds to me like he is trying to cut costs to the point he doesn't care if he loses senior people, in fact he may be hoping for it. Those new guys probably cost less. This shit always back fires as the new guys don't give the same output. There is a reason good long term employees cost more. You are right to get out as it will probably get worse.

    My work did the same shit but did in a different way for those leaving. They offered early retirement to get some of the higher paid guys out. We assumed it was long term cost cutting and those jobs were gone. 2 weeks later they hired new people to fill them. They cost a lot less and don't know their heads from their asses. Saves the company money but forces the rest of us to teach and pick up the slack. We who now make up the senior group take the hit not the company as the output is less but close to the same. I get paid a lot less than those who left but have to fill the void. It saves money on every pay level for them as they cut the top of the pyramid off. The problems will come when a project goes south and we can't cover for the newbies anymore.

    I bring that up to him. I let him know that in our ONLY conversation we had about my promotion he referred to the owner and GM as Idiots and Liars. His jaw dropped, when I informed him that I would be in the office at 8am tomorrow, letting the owner and GM know just that.

    The owner and GM know damned well I have NO REASON to make that up.
    Now nothing will happen because of this...Or maybe it will.

    But I know God Damned well that Mr. Dispatcher isn't sleeping well tonight.
