This is what you and BS are saying.

Thank you so much; I just realized I'm incapable of speaking for myself.

    bsL to the rescue!

Benjs, so this isn't a personal dig? Hmm…

And I stand by what I said, although it was confrontational, and now that I reread, could have been put a different way. But did I get personal? Ugh, no. Did I lose my cool with my emotions and make any personal digs? No.
The last thing I would want is for someone to claim to know (and then broadcast) what I think, seeing as that is my right and my right exclusively.

As for hedo's other comment you linked, I'm not sure how she was ass-kissing. She was acknowledging that we all fall in different places of the spectrum, and how vast that spectrum actually is. Both are factual observances of this place.

Some of you sound like a bunch of cranky old men.....but you probably are, so carry on.

Based on the average demographic of Pearl Jam fans, most of us are probably cranky old men, regardless of political affiliation.
And Jason - I'm 25, going on about 85. I get tired after too much sex, headaches when it's going to rain, and I typically dislike young people I meet.
Damn young man, there are supplements to help with the 2much sex thing.i was unaware this is a problem.lol
Ha! Believe me - I'm new to the problem too. Think I'll survive though :)

I wonder if your perception of other people "losing their cool" and "being nasty" is a bit over the top.

Could you let this go already? That you don't like me isn't bothersome in the least; bringing it into various threads because I may see some issues in a different light than you is. Guessing our fellow members aren't big on it either.

    Back to out-of-touch Republicans!

Not at all. You're not willing to cut the personal digs, I'll keep calling you on it. So keep it up, the mods are watching.

I'm willing to stop the nastiness. But only if those who insist on the personal digs stop as well. I won't put words into your mouth that aren't there, and you'll stop taking everything I write personally. Because my words are just words, not combative, not personal digs, just words.

That's my word, now what say you.

I'm ready to get back on topic, but not until we stop this garbage. Because "letting it go" as you suggest only lasts until the next thread.

You're just as guilty dude. Shall you go back to some other police threads to see for yourself?

All I'm going to say is that you're just as guilty as the rest.

So what is it Hugh, let's bury it. What do you say about never getting personal with me (or anyone else for that matter) again.

Hold a rally in a park, hold a rally in the dark. Just make sure you aren't a disruption...sorry, but disruption is what leads to change, not words spoken from a place that is too easy to ignore.
It's an insult to those who are racially profiled and abused to say this movement is misguided. People rag on the young generation for being apathetic, but as soon as they put their money on the barrel they are misguided and not genuine.

The protests here a couple of months ago involved many walking en masse on a local freeway at night. I don't doubt some were sincere in their efforts, but how stupid to put yourself - and others who are just trying to get home - at such risk?

I don't have the answers, but to incur the wrath and jeopardize the safety of others? Seems fucked up.

And when I talk about wrath, it's spoken more to those who need the police, EMT's, firefighters as quickly as possible - who are either trying to preserve peace at the protest site or can't get through the gathering itself.

(also aware of the irony that could be taken from the above statement)

That's right, " take your issues and go somewhere more conveniently out of my way so I don't have to deal with you."

This is what you and BS are saying.
Notice that although I did put words into the poster's mouth, I did not, in any way, get personal, call names, get emotional, etc. There is a better way to handle this than to throw a fit about how I write words and to come back with a suggested personal take on who I am and how I feel about said poster ("Never had someone come at me like this throughout my years here.
I'm not sure when or where this strange hard-on for me began, but it'd be great for you, me and the rest of the members if you kept it to yourself.)

Really now, this is a justified way to address a post? And a sarcastic post with Mighty Mouse?

Anyway, I'm willing to bury the hatchet with all of you who have felt the need to take personal jabs and digs at me like it's going to do anything constructive to the discussion. I will attempt to use a different (better tone) if you guys quit the need to personally attempt to put me down.

Guilty of what ? Not agreeing with you or calling you out for acting like a high schooler.Either way Paul is right.Start with you and the rest will fall in place.I can assure you no one you are calling out is mean or malicious or wishes you any ill will.In fact Not seeing things the same way is part of the fun of being on here.I don't agree with Gambs,BB,Brian,Cal etc on a lot of issues but I value what they have to say, respect them and like them very much. Its never personal no matter what the subject. You don't like some of us who aren't ultra liberals.Thats your own deal.Different strokes for different folks. We are all just bullshitting here.Sharing a ride on the train.chillin.

I had a whole thing written and just pushed 'delete'. Callen, you're right: I come here to learn about topics, not about board members (no offence). It'd be nice to see this return to the topic at hand.

Yeah it seems true there is a clique that has developed here ...

A clique might have also been assigned. Most so-called members of Team Conservative didn't even know there was such a thing until the assignments were made by various posters not on said team. I haven't seen the roster yet, so I'm not sure who exactly is on the team, but surely somebody making the assignments can publish the list. And if there's a Team Conservative, there are probably other teams, especially if we've got some sort of AMT league competition happening.

I'd personally like to see any cliques go away, and judge each post on its own merits. But almost every post in this forum carries with it the baggage of the poster, and all of that poster's previous posts. So it is inevitable that labels get created, healthy or not.

When we get the roster can someone let me know what team I'm on? Because I don't know.

    Hmmm a clique?
I dunno about that. I would say that those of us who frequent the Lounge Car tend to stick up for each other, we have real friendships happening. That being said, Brian and I are very liberal, RR and Hedo are more conservative, and other folks are in between.
If it's a clique it's a diverse one, and I am proud to be in it.

    Amen, brother.

And, I'd say that my conservatism is more inclined toward fiscal, criminal, etc. - if that makes sense. I'm pretty liberal on the social front - believe rr is as well (but won't presume to speak on his behalf).

Can't we all just be labelled as fiscally, criminally and socially human? :)

As an aside, I'm curious as to where on the spectrum you'd place me - I feel liberal but never really thought much about it.
