The take of if you don’t like Kendrick you don’t get it is trash. I’ve been listening to hip hop forever. I don’t like him. I’d never tell someone to not like him but the minute you say anything about him…. Forget it. The dude could rap for days. Yes. But his songs are trash for the most part imo. He can’t write good songs. They’re boring.  Plus his voice is irritating to me. MY OPINION
I thought Dre and Snoop did great a few years ago and I wasn't expecting to like it.

I've seen Snoop and Ice Cube live and they killed it. Nothing against Lamar but I just don't see anything there of value. My two daughters knew all about his feud with Drake and thought he was great though.

Its more of a joke that his songs and performance are generally headier.

    I understand. I’ve tried all
    his albums multiple
times. There’s def some keepers but overall not something I ever wanna go back to. Boring is the best way I kind describe it. I know I’m in the minority.

eh. not everything is for everybody and thats fine and nbd. I find most of his albums pretty visceral and find his narrative engaging.

To put it in terms of us old(er) white people, this is Lynyrd Skynyrd singing, "Sweet Home Alabama," in an early 70's Super Bowl. 😄

    Totally agree.

His concert film from the last tour is one of the best things I’ve seen in years. Watched it twice it was that good.

There is no such thing as "bad music", only music you love, like, are neutral to, or don't care for.  For Lamar, I'm pretty much in the latter categories.  But so what?  BFD.

    I resemble that remark

But now that I have done the research into all the symbolism in last nights show I have a greater respect for him as an artist.

This is perfect. Regardless of whether you could understand every word, there was so much social commentary there for people who can think a little deeper. I've never spent a lot of time with his music, but that is going to change.

The best Super Bowl halftime shows are the ones that require a scholarly follow-up like it's a Twin Peaks episode

This seems to confirm my suspicion that you needed to be pretty invested in the whole Drake thing?

Samuel L. Jackson's lines, as Uncle Sam, anticipated what some segments of our population would say after the performance, “Too loud, too reckless, too ghetto.”

Or they acted as cue cards for degenerates who needed grist to coast on for a week or so. Such a brilliant narrative that you need a narrator repeatedly winking at the camera.

Could also be read as, talking about how bad he was is tied to racism (as in Trump voters).
