Record Store Day Mystery Vinyl

More specifically - it seemed the further away from Seattle someone lives, the worse their package got. Did anyone in Washington state *not* get a colored PJ20?Zod said:
That's not really what I meant. When we started to get posts (both online and facebook) from the US members (who got their packages first). The majority of them seemed to get something rare. PJ20's, coloured fixers etc.... It seems like 80% (maybe higher) of the US packages got something rare.Dr Emmett Brown said:
Seriously, where are you going to get an orange Fixer for $90?
Most of the posts with the Canadian packages were showing side project/lb vinyl's with christmas singles/love boat captain. It seemed like an inverse where most Canadian's were getting common vinyl and the odd person got something rare. Thus the odds of getting something good seemed way higher for US members than Canadian ones.
That's all I was trying to say. I guess I didn't quite get there.
I'm sure it's a coincidence and it's easy to figure out how it happens. They make their packaged boxes and they of course will be in clumps of this and that. Then when they put the UPS labels on them - it probably spits them out of the machine by distance/geographical location. They probably could have just as easily gotten Moonlander's as PJ20's in Washington - but they got lucky.0 -
He went from saying it had no value to him to wanting Avocado or Lost Dogs in trade in the space of about 5 minutes. Last I heard he was negotiating a trade for Riot Act, which would be a great deal on his part!MedozK said:

To be honest I'm a bit bewildered that a lot of the same records have gone to the same locations. Nowhere did it say random I know but it would have been nice for it to have been, how hard would it have been to distribute the packages a bit more evenly. I would be more than happy to settle for a white Backspacer or Orange Fixer, there has been some serious duds posted here recently. Most of the first ones seemed too good so who knows what the UK will get.0
-
That completely makes sense, but it's still disappointing. It's a weird way to do it (logical yes, but still weird). I guess you want a randomness to things like a lottery. If people found out that lotteries simply made the first 1000 tickets winners and everyone else losers, the lotteries would fail because no one bought tickets... lol. Randomness gives everyone a fair shot and perputuates the hope (which drives the sales).Sarava said:More specifically - it seemed the further away from Seattle someone lives, the worse their package got. It'll be interesting to see what overseas 10c'ers get. I wonder if this will impact international 10c'ers willingness to participate in future mystery sales?0 -

and another friend here in WA got a BLACK PJ20 with the 2011 fan club 7". I was convinced it was a colored one that was missing the sticker in the upper right-hand corner but nope, it was black.0 -

In 2013 I line up in the cold for the Seattle pop up shop for 4 hours only get have the option to buy left over merch. Waste of time.
Now my wife and I each sign up for the mystery vinyl. Hers gets cancelled and I get Moonlander. It's not even PJ. And The Fixer 7", which is possibly the worst PJ song every made.

Andy, you got it. When I opened it I was like "I hate that song", but then I get 10 pm's asking for a trade. I was like what's up; then realized it actually had value and only about 100 were made. I'd take Riot Act in a heart beat, but the guy is in Norway. I love that album.
Also I didn't realize Lost Dogs and Avocado were worth more. I'd throw in a sealed Coke bottle if that evened it out. I wasn't trying to under cut anyone.0 -
I wish I could help another jammer out and I have in the past, but I basically paid $90 for it with shipping and fx. Plus I don't really have anything too rare that PJ related. Sorry.pdalowsky said:
absolutely, I know Su May got locked out of the sale, so it'd be cool to let her take the orange fixer if its not appreciated. That's a really nice item, and for the record, whilst its maybe not their strongest track, its still solid.Suziemay said:
I'll take that orange Fixer off your hands if you hate the song so muchRed Lukin said:Hmm I had no clue it was rare. It's not worth much to me since it's not my favorite song, but I do take back what I said. Cool of the TC to give one rare and 1 unrare album. That evens it out. Hopefully it's the same with others.
, I'm quite fond of the song because it's written by Matt, plus it's one of the few songs all the guys are singing at the same time. So what if they are only singing Yea Yea Yea Yea

Well, I for one hope that theory is wrong.......living in the UK may mean we really could get the shitty end of the stick......or we may be the ones that get Riot Act etc as none have turned up yet......Sarava said:

No worries at all, I think that you should go for the Riot Act trade to be honest, it sounds like that would be perfect for both of you. The shipping cost might make it more than you want to spend, but the way I see it you would end up spending $90 plus shipping for Riot Act, which you would never be able to beat anywhere else! I wish I had something that you wanted but that is the way of the world - good luck with it whatever you decide to do!Red Lukin said:

We haven't seen many Coke Bottle Tens have we? And there were quite a few on the list! Doesn't seem like many Riot Act LPs have been reported but there wasn't that many in the first place. Not many Benny's but they would be recorded delivery so they would have hit Europe by now. UK get Coke Bottle 10 or side projects I predict.0
-
Andy, as much as I love riot act and would really like that vinyl I never buy or trade for anything but new. Riot act is probably worth more straight up but the fact that it's opened probably makes it more fair. Sure it's a good trade but I liked sealed vinyl.
Just something about opening a fresh piece of vinyl.0 -
Man, I wish I could afford to buy only sealed vinyl!!With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0

Only 2 Benny's have been reported, one was numbered 5 and the other 18. The remaining x number must be going international then as US and Canada got these 2 quite quick. Mind you I sent a recorded delivery package to San Francisco from UK and that only took 5 days, so where are these other Benny's if they are being sent 'special delivery'?FR181798 said:We haven't seen many Coke Bottle Tens have we? Maybe it was a fluke it got to Canada so quickly and they weren't shipped via special shipping.keithlaw1974 said:

Pretty sure it was delivered by UPS directly, so they definitely used a different shipment method for the Benny in Canada. Normally UPS transfers the packages to Canada Post, and that's how everyone else in Canada so far has been getting theirs, besides the Benny guy. So I doubt anyone else in Canada should be expecting or even remotely hoping to get that Benaroya Hall album.Zod said:

(although never say never of course. They could have staggered the mailings of the Bennys for all we know)
