    The celebrations are ridiculous.
So you're on the US men's world cup team and you score your first WC goal in a blowout...you're telling me you wouldn't celebrate that??  Were the celebrations a bit much?  Probably.  But I'm not going to fault someone for celebrating something you dream of doing your whole life.
Goals 9-13 were scored from the 79th minute on and were scored by...

    Rapinoe
    Morgan
    Pugh (1st world up goal)
    Morgan
    Lloyd

Not exactly first timers.  It is obnoxious, even if you get Pugh the benefit of the doubt.  The fact that Morgan was even playing is a disgrace.

when it is 10-0 and your embarrassing the other team and yourself.  It is safe to temper celebrations when the game is well in hand.... probably about 5-0.  You can be happy, show it, and not look like a clown show.

And playing the 'inequality' card is an incredibly lame move.  Men would be criticized as well if they did that.

Because no one is going to score that many goals in the group. Get you can't really assume that, but no one is.

    mens 2018 rules

    Tiebreakers

If two or more teams are tied on points, FIFA’s 2018 World Cup regulations lay out seven tiebreakers …

    1. Goal differential
    2. Goals scored
    3. Head-to-head result

In the case of a three-team tie where all three teams are level on goal differential and goals scored …

    4. Goal differential in games among tied teams
    5. Goals scored in games among tied teams

If teams are still tied …

    6. Fair play – also known as fewest yellow cards (unless one of the tied teams has picked up a red card, in which case FIFA’s discipline scoring system comes into play. Card counts can be found here).
    7. Drawing of lots

And yes, No. 6 and 7 could easily come into play.

I assume its the same or similar given its fifa?

Yeah, this is for the group stage. I am just saying the women's team has much bigger issues if they are going to goal differential in the first round.

Well, I'm with Mickey on being unapologetic about their play yesterday. And for a few reasons. Goal differential, while probably irrelevant to the US Women in group play since they should never be in a situation where that is what puts them through, is still an important consideration just in case they catch whatever the USMNT has. Also, as Mickey said, there were a few first time WC scorers. That must be thrilling! There were also individual records attained (A. Morgan). Also, they were setting USWNT and WC records at some point during the game and were celebrating those when they happened. Also, as others have said, it is extremely disrespectful to treat your opponents as a bunch of amateurs, which is what it would have been had they backed off. Their opponents qualified for the WC, and expected to be playing against the best teams in the world. Also, the women needed to play their game. They needed to implement their game plan and hone what they are doing, because each stage is progressively more difficult. Had they altered their play for this game, it wouldn't have helped them in terms of momentum or work on the plan for the rest of the tournament. Lastly, they were all fucking happy to be winning their first WC game of the tournament. They had said they wanted to start the WC with a command performance, and they did. I, for one, am very happy for them. Proud of them and proud they're representing this country. My feelings toward the USMNT is 180 the opposite - they are an embarrassment to the sport (and the country) and I can only hope for an automatic qualification in 2026, because I don't believe we'll be in Qatar. If we are, I'm not sure which players we'll bring because only about 5% of the current men's team players seem to know the game.  So I'm enjoying and relishing the win, and have confidence in their abilities as individual players and as a team to go head to head with any women's national team.

    Let's go!

and its also not solely about group play.  tiebreakers are in place for the whole fucking thing.

many here dont seem to want to acknowledge that.

Agree with everything you you said here about the women's team here.

MNT are a complete disaster right now but I still think they'll make it to Qatar.  In spite of this coach who appears to be an MLS/US Soccer puppet, there is still a lot of young talent with guys like Pulisic, Adams, McKennie, Sargent, Weah, etc. and what do they all have in common?  None of them play in the trash MLS.

Is a batter suppose to Strike Out on purpose because his/her team is up 13-0 in the 8th 9th or 9?

Pretty sure tiebreakers are only used for group stage standings. Once it gets to the knockout stage games go into extra time and then penalties if still tied.
