Alright, who watched it? Frightening stuff. I never knew of the tactics they used to become recognized as a non-profit. These people essentially strong armed the IRS.

I've had it figured this religion is bogus since the first time I heard the word "Scientology", but I might get around to seeing it out of general interest.
“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man [or woman] who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”

It's amazing to me the amount of wealth and power they have amassed considering they have maybe 50,000 members world-wide. There's more people in the Ten Club.

More than Ten Club? What's wrong with those people? LOL

Seriously though, I'll have to make time to check this out-- sounds interesting.

No, less than Ten Club. I think it's a safe assumption there are more than 50,000 in Ten Club.
  • Shit, getting the IRS to wipe out over a billion dollars in tax debt could be considered a miracle. Maybe they ARE legit? Hahaha

well, considering it is the go-to religion in Hollywood, it makes sense how much money and power they have.

I have read a good amount about it before. It was interesting to hear it from some of the top level defectors. Learned a few new things as well.

I know you're a book guy. The film was made based on a book with the authors involvement. I imagine it is in much more depth. I will probably pick it up.

Yeah, it looks interesting. We haven't seen a copy come through the store yet. The reviews look mostly good- 3.96/5 on Good Reads, 4.5/5 on that other place, LOL.

  • Did they show ya'll the headquarters?? Golden Era in Gilman Hot Springs?? I used to live in trailer park that was just along the border edge of that place.. They'd have armed guards in motor bikes patrolling at all hours of the night. I should still have some pics of it somewhere..
P.S. The last time I went out to Cali, ( last year..) the Golden Era assholes.. ( sorry Kat there really is no other fittng description for these pieces of brainwashing shitholes..), had bought up
The San Jacinto Oasis trailer park, they bought up our golf course.. Now they border the Saboba Casino.. And the Saboba Indians HATE the fucking Golden Era people!! Tom Cruise sent Katie Holmes there once.. Total ass fuckery went on!! Stupid idiots from the outside got themselves arrested trying tI breach the borders.. Oh yeah they have their own police!

Yes. It's one of the places where they have people labor for 40 cents an hour under protection of their "religious" status.
  • Yeah it's really freaky to see in person. Back when I lived out there, they had bought this SERIES of apartments that were down the street from my parents' house out in Sanderson Ave, ( which leads directly into Gilman Hot Springs RD.) and they would bus these weirdos out to 'work'. They all wore white robes stared dead ass front, with blank stares.. I remember once we got a flat tire, and wrecked junto a ditch just outside the GE gates.. And my BF went up to
The guard shack to ask for help.. They met him GUNS DRAWN!! And then as they got a tractor to pull us out, and back into the road, the bus came up.. And we tried so hard to get those people to
Look anywhere else but front.. The guy on the tractor?? Yelled at us for it!! Strange people..

I would add "second-rate" between broke and science fiction author.
