Yes. It's one of the places where they have people labor for 40 cents an hour under protection of their "religious" status.

Yeah it's really freaky to see in person. Back when I lived out there, they had bought this SERIES of apartments that were down the street from my parents' house out in Sanderson Ave, ( which leads directly into Gilman Hot Springs RD.) and they would bus these weirdos out to 'work'. They all wore white robes stared dead ass front, with blank stares.. I remember once we got a flat tire, and wrecked junto a ditch just outside the GE gates.. And my BF went up to
The guard shack to ask for help.. They met him GUNS DRAWN!! And then as they got a tractor to pull us out, and back into the road, the bus came up.. And we tried so hard to get those people to
Look anywhere else but front.. The guy on the tractor?? Yelled at us for it!! Strange people..

I would add "second-rate" between broke and science fiction author.

I just watched it last night - wow. And I live in LA so I know a couple people involved with it. I worked with Paul Haggis years ago and he was a nice guy. One bad story - I knew somebody who had a coke problem who did the Scientology rehab program and got cleaned up. Then once he was clean - duh - he realized what a load of shit Scientology was and he left. And they totally harassed him. Called him, told him he was gonna be back on coke soon, threatened him, really treated him badly. He moved away and is fine now.

But they also accept Jesus so I guess it's more palatable for some.

I used to think Scientology was just a tax dodge....a way for the wealthy to "donate" to their church and then travel the world visiting the church locations using tax deductible money. They are truly a cult.

The whole idea behind "SEA-ORG" is absolutely crazy...how they got the IRS to back down blows my mind.

Crazy seeing a religion start up. First a cult, then gain followers and acceptance and someday it will just be another bat sh!t religion people believe in. But it will be "normal"

    They all start like that.
