We were in Sydney for the first show on Nov 7... it was as awesome as everyone has said it was. The band was in fine form, they seemed to be having a good time, and they put together a truly rocking set! The acoustic set during the first encore was wonderful, woke up with "Nothingman" in my head all the next day.
Didn't know what to expect from the audience, but I'd have to say that more people knew more of the words than the audiences in Los Angeles... lots of singing along, even Eddie seemed impressed! And even the rowdy guys behind us were respectful, only yelling during the encores (and near the end, to tell everyone else in our section to stand up!)
As usual, they never show enough Stone Gossard on the video monitors, and sure there were more songs I wanted to hear (Thin Air, Save You, Love Boat Captain...), but it was a great night nonetheless. I ordered the bootleg as soon as I got back home to California.

Flew up to Sydney to see this and it was the show of a lifetime. Am gutted to have missed the soundcheck - a mistake i won't be making in Melbourne. I have never sweated so much nor felt so energised. This is why I willing travel the planet to see these guys - they are the ultimate rockers and total showmen. I love that they don't pull that bulls**t about keeping the fans waiting for the show to start and allow us to get public transport etc to venues. It just makes the experience SOOOOOO enjoyable

Sound check was at 5.30pm - but security wasn't letting one in the seated area. Unsure about floor/10c, maybe they were letting people in down there? Doors opened for the rest at 6.30

I was at the Wednesday gig last week. Eddie made a comment about it not being a Sunday morning and how the crowd should liven up. Also said perhaps the security was too high. I have to say that I felt the security were too tight - it is a rock concert after all! It jsus seemed that security were waiting to berate someone for doing something wrong. All the same, I thought the gig was brilliant and that although it was hard to jump around with the seats in the way PJ pulled it off brilliantly. I was at the Pumpkins last gig in Dublin which was fully seated and in a venue of about 500 people. I thought they failed to pull it off. The crowd never got going and I left disappointed.
PJ pulled it off brilliantly. I intend on going to Saturday's gig and I hope for the fans sake the security can relax a bit. I saw a guy chucked out for dancing in the gangway beside his seat. But the seat is in the way if you want to jump around (just jumping up and down). I hope someone involved in setting up the venue reads this and has a word to the security. Otherwise - PJ you totally rock!! I'm off to U2 tonight and although I'm Irish, I know I'm going to be disappointed by them after seeing PJ last week. Also, guys thank you for doing A Sort Of Homecoming. I love that album and I love that song. Thought it was a really nice touch.
I first got into PJ around the Vitology era, via a friend (thanks Wash). Instantly hooked I was, and I was even more estatic to find out that there were 2 albums prior to Vitolgy. Just as happy as I was when I found out that Radiohead had 2 albums prior to Ok Computer.
Since then, I've bought (yes bought) every album that's come out, and will continue to do so until there are no more.
I live in New Zealand and me and my flatmate flew over to Sydney just to see Pearl Jam. At that point in time, I couldn't have cared less if they had played a gig over here. I'd much prefer to go to Australia than somewhere ghey like Auckland (no offence to Aucklanders, but hey, you should at least be used to it ).
I lived in Australia for 3.5 years and was quite spoilt my the amount of artists that tour there when compared to NZ. I went to 2 BDO's (2003/2005) and I thought they were amazing, even though I was under the influence of things that weren't entirely legal, but hey, who wasn't?
I also had the privilege to go and see Coldplay, Radiohead, Black Eyed Peas, and even Avril (yes, that is a little embarrassing), live in concert. Seeing them in NZ would have cost me a fortune as I live in the South Island, nowhere near any potential large concert venue (besides CHCH).
The Pearl Jam concert in Sydney was by far the BEST concert I've ever been to, and I was completely sober. I even got goosebumps reading the other 10-odd pages of this thread, and I got even larger goosebumps when listening to the Bootleg from the show. I love how PJ do that, put there live shows up for download. Big kudos!
To the others that have mentioned the lack of crowd participation, you must have been to close to the speakers or something cause you couldn't be further from the truth. Listen to the bootleg, it's totally obvious that the crowd was going mental and singing along whenever they could.
Matt Cameron's drum solo was something else (in laymans terms = Fuckin Immense!). I don't ever recall ever hearing a PJ drum solo up to this point (correct me if I'm wrong). That point where Mike McCready played the guitar behind his head was (excuse my french) Fuckin Sick!
I don't normally swear this much in forums, especially in my first ever post, so please excuse me for that. Writing this is bringing back a lot of memories from the show, so I'm a little hyper. Add to that, I'm listening to the bootleg again.
So, may this be the first post of many in here, and hi to everyone.
Crowd getting right behind the band during Corduroy.
Mike and Matt's solos during Even Flow.
The singing during Animal gave me goosebumps.
Call and response during Daugher.
Rocking In The Free World rocking out.
Phew
Extremely pumped for Sydney 3 now!!!!
This gig was awesome.
totally agree!!!!! and tonights the night! cant wait :D
Mate cheers for that - great footage of RITFW.
I can even see myself briefly.
Me too.. I think, right at the end. Watching this just brought back some great memories.

Awesome concert. I've been a fan of Pearl Jam since Alive came out around 1991 , but never had the opportunity to see them live due to being overseas at the wrong times.
Finally got my chance 15 years later at this '06 concert in Sydney and it was unbelievable. The setlist was brilliant, the band were in fine form and the crowd was pumped.
The new avocado album is one of their very best and I think that really helped make the concert great. Good mix of new and old stuff.
Still listening to the cd of the concert every day. Great memories.
