Alright, so the GPRS connection in the stadium (at least for me) was awful. Sorry for non-live updates, I seriously just didn't have reception - I ran out at the end of the first set, posted, then went back in. If it's better in Melbourne I'll try again.
My "blog" is below from the lead up for those interested. I'm missing one song name: it was in between Nothingman and Black in the first encore. Help me someone...

I saw them in Seattle on the famed 6-11-00 concert, and I can tell you: tonight, for intensity, really came close to that for the first set. It was awesome. Easily the best Oz show I've seen. Eddie spoke about "trying something new" part way through, right after thanking Kings of Leon. It showed in the improvs. There were a lot of them!
Release is just a classic opener. Elderly woman was just awesome. I Got Shit is when it really started though. That period from there up to the encore just rocked hard. They had so much energy! Eddie ended up with his shirt half open throwing mike stands around the stage. Just awesome. Damn Acer Arena turned the lights on though, I was expecting a Ledbetter finish by RTFW was just a great cap to one of the best Oz shows.... well, that I've seen...
Happy b/day to Ed's girl this Sat

Ah holy crap that was amazing! I caught 3 shows last Aussie tour and this one kicked the crap out of those ones. They were on. The setlist was killer. The whole band was rocking hard. Even the crowd was pretty good and sydney crowds suck alot of the time. I got 4th row right infront of jeff and mike on the edge of the isle. I goto say sorry to mike i threw a little badge at him and hit him right in the chest....sorry bout that man. At least you got it and looked at it and kept it. And my bro found one of eddies picks which he must of thrown out at soundcheck or something. An amazing night cant wait for Wed night!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas!!!! Still 18 more sleeps. All of you that are going to multiple shows.....my god!!!! I am so happy for you....I wish I was, but I appreciate you all coming on here and sharing your night with us.....makes the wait even more exciting.
Well ive just returned home from what can only be described as the most energetic, intense, and emotion charged concert OF MY LIFE!!
Friends, take the concerts of 2003, put them in archives, and prepare yourselves for what will be the greatest Australian Tour of Pearl Jam's career....
As fans gathered in their seats, with my tenclub number of 202xxx, I was priveleged to be given Section B Row 5, dead centre which seemed awfully close to the stage. House lights were up, then began the sign - the intro music that says "Pearl Jam are fucken coming!" The music was the 'Once' style intro that plays after Release on the 10 cd. Fans screamed, some jumped where they stood, all the while, the anticipation multiplied infinitely - then the lights faded - the house was defeaning!!!!!
Release was our opener, that lovely opener that seemed to have so much intensity. (i'm afraid of using too many exclamation points - Elaine in Seinfeld) Follow that up with RVM and you have the makings of what ended up being one hell of a fucken show!!
From there, the boys mixed it with the old and the new, with Severed Hand the first of the new stuff. My personal fave. Played so crisply yet in its very raw elements, so primal, hard to explain...
from there the classics just kept coming, from small town, to I Got Shit, and an awesome Daughter with WMA tag.
All the while the crowd seemed to be doing its best to stand up and put in a performance the yanks would be proud of, though personally, i went to hard to early, and lost my voice half way through the first set - any thought of keeping quiet?? FUCK NO hehe
My personal highlight: EVEN FLOW This had to be seen to be believed!!! Mike's solo was, quote from an American who i sat next to who has been to over 5 shows in the states "His best solo in a while - and thats no disrespect to his previous ones..." From there, each band member seemed to slink away from the stage, leaving Mr Matt Cameron with his drum solo! OMFG!! This man is the king people, there is no choice but be mesmerised by the talent of this man, his work on the skins left me with goosebumps, almost forgetting to cheer as I stood there, it was like a cobra with his snake charmer. Tonight I was the cobra, and Matt was the snake charmer, and I was fixed!!!!
Next Ed made a speech talking about a surfer they looked up to, yup, Mr Mark Richards, and dedicated Big Wave to him, awesome live!!! Cant believed they dropped it so early, but hey I aint complaining. Straight into Grievance, where there was a lovely moment where Ed forgot a whole line, and for the life of me cant remeber what it was!! But as we sang it, he shrugged his shoulders, and replaced "Raise the sticks and bring them down" with "I'm not perfect I let you down" Ab-so-fucking-lutely seamless, it was an awesome feeling just then.
Following Betterman and DTE, we had a well earned encore break, with clapping, cheering, and some unreal foot stomping from those in the stands, deep banging echoed through the arena, as the audience pleaded for more!!
Somewhere in between all this, Ed mentioned the Mid-term elections, making a difference etc. He then said "If the result is bad, ill be looking for a shack, on a beach, here in Australia and i'm moving.." which is when Jeff gestured to Ed that he too would like a shack "I dont wanna ask for more after I just asked for something earlier, but if we could get one for Jeff - and Matt (Matt signals that he also wants one) and then we'll play for free every month" any ideas how the crowd reacted???? hehe
Ed brings out two bottles of wine, takes a swipe, then a fan reaches out his cup for some. Ed without hesitation pours his wine in and "share it round." After this he says "Its good stuff (laughs)"
An awesome Encore 1 followed, with Man of the Hour, followed by the 'experimented' Nothingman, both played with the love and emotion filled intensity that these songs deserve. Follow that up with Gone, Black, Alive (crowd participation up there, still room for improvement hehe) and you have an encore that you thought couldnt be topped, but oh it was hehe
Another break, some more conversation with the crowd, thanking those at the very top of the arena, and they were a long way up.
Then starts GO, did someone say these guys were over 40???? Please, I go back to it but the energy, the intensity, the raw emotion far surpassed any show i have previously been to. Mike was his mishievous self, interacting with the crowd as only he could, even at one point earlier running around to Boom, playing his bit, waving goodbye to Boom and running back to hi spot!!! Pure McCready...
Then they crack open WHY GO!! The crowd, with seemingly their last bit of energy belting out the chorus repeatedly. An awesome old school song, leaving that brand new taste in the mouth
Then the Neil Young double; first Throw your Hated Down. As that wound up, I dared not dream that perhaps, could they, finish with RITFW?? I watched, I waited, I stood on the end of my thongs, watching Stone for any sign of Free World, when Ed hits those first notes...
The lights come up, people are on their feet, clapping above their heads, moshing where they stood, filming on their phones/cameras, singing along, it was the song I dared wait for, and I had it! The outpouring of raw emotion, that only comes with a Pearl Jam concert (IMO), and as Ed grabbed the Tambourines to smash the fuck out of, the 18K strong arena clapped as one, as Ed looked on in humbled admiration. He handed his tambourines to 2 fans in the front row - well deserved too. Ed also climbed to the extremes of the stage, on top of the speakers, thanking those in attendance. As the final notes played, and the group dislodged themselves from their tools, Matt threw out his sticks, Mike his picks, and I am glad to say that while I scored a pick, my mate 5 rows further back scored a stick (Onya Luke)
In summing up, the words awesome, raw energy, intensity made many appearances. You just cant come up with enough different words to describe the show tonight, so I just stuck with the ones most approrpiate. To those fans there tonight, thankyou for sharing this with me, everyone had their own experiences, this is just 1 of what would be thousands of different interpretations of tonight. To those about to see this timeless band, you have a very good reason to get even more excited...
PEARL JAM ARE BACK IN AUSTRALIA, AND THEY ARE IN FORM!!!!!
Thanks for reading
Jim
Stars walk the red carpet because they're famous - I walk the toilet paper because im the shit.
I am going to bed now...to TRY and sleep. Cant wait for the Bootleg to become available. Have already paid for it, just cant wait to download it and listen to it. Was the best night ever.
Pearl JamEddie Vedder Sydney - 11/3/1995 Sydney - 18/3/2011 Sydney - 9/3/1998 Sydney - 19/3/2011 Sydney - 11/3/1998 Sydney - 13/2/2014 Sydney - 12/3/1998 Sydney - 11/2/2003 Sydney - 13/2/2003 Sydney - 14/2/2003 Sydney - 7/11/2006 Sydney - 8/11/2006 Sydney - 18/11/2006 Sydney - 22/11/2009 Sydney - 26/1/2014
What the hell am I gonna do with myself after the last show next saturday??????? I have never been so in love with music in my life as I was tonight.
OH yes....that is the feeling I'm dreading....like the day after Christmas for a child (there I go with the Christmas ref again). Such a long exciting wait and then BAM...it's over. My only solution is the Bootlegs....that's what get's me through the anti climax.
How hectic was that?!?!?! I was way up high n almost even behind the stage and everyone up there was standing n jumping around and goin apeshit!!
Too many highlights!! Nothingman?!?! I got shit?!
I reckon during some songs there were 20k people all standing, jumping and clapping at the same time! from our perspective which wouldnt have been too dissimilar from the bands...it was intense!!
hehe Ed fucked during Grievence, realised wayyy to late and I said something like
"that was the first mistake ive ever made... I must however carry on...I can do it" kinda hard to explain but funny stuff
Crowd = crazyyy woooooo!!
Hope the boot does it justice coz I'm still fully blown away!! Was sweating like a pig for 3/4 of the show
Glad ya liked listening into GTF Stella!!
Oh and gone was all acoustic too! Whole band playing but all on acoustic guitars and matt still playin drums as per album version...
The end of Black, the crowd and Ed's voice up really high was beautiful!
Ahh i need to go to bed already weeeeeeeee
Night all
I like our socks. I hear we make a fine sock. I always say, You might not love our records, but I think you'll like our socks. - Stoney G.
I am a uk fan who lives in auckland but flew to sydney for the show. Only 2nd show despite 14 years of being a fan (or whatever). Awesome show in terms of intensity and just delighted to see them whatever they had played. Minor disappointment was that I felt the setlist was a little conservative - NOTHING off No Code (boooo!!!!), just one from Binaural, nothing from Riot Act, and only the obvious two from Yield, and kind of the obvious ones from Vs. Liked it best when they busted out likes of big wave, throw your hatred etc - though sadly very little "etc" to be had. I really wish i was going tomorrow to stand a chance of ghost, hard to imagine, sleight of hand, and just anything from the ignored albums above.
I have Stone's setlist in front of me now and the song you're missing was inded Gone. And damn good it was too.
The "try something a little different" reference after thanking Kings Of Leon before playing nothingman confused me a bit as it was just nothingman - sweet and all, but just one of their songs.
The setlist has a couple of deletions - ending was due to run........
Go
Life Wasted (not played)
Why Go
Throw Your Hatred Down
Comatose (not played)
Rockin
Indifference (not played)
This is great....I don't know how any of you r gonna sleep tonight....I'm going to have troubles, I'm so revved up just reading about tonight, let alone if I'd gone!!!
Makes me want to make love to everyone!!! Even you SMALLTOWN GIRL!!! hehehe
Pearl Jam concerts are certainly a great aphrodesiac (spelling?) All of our children were made during PJ Aust; tours....ooh ahhh...did I just share that!?

Nite all.xx
CRACK ME UP!!!!! I'm going alone this time....hubbies not a fan, just always comes along to "look after me" and "keep an eye on me". So... he's staying home with our past PJ productions. while I cut sick in Perth!!! Well, I won't be alone in Perth...be with a friend off here -JJJ and all the rest of the Jamily.
i should add that ozpjman's wonderfully enthusiastic review was more in keeping with my owen personal joy and feeling than my own slightly grumpy ramblings above. Just would have loved a little No Code and Binaural, maybe a Brain of J and a sneaky little Pilate or Faithful - maybe a Not For You, maybe a Last Kiss, because i love this stuff more than the main stuff AND I'M GREEDY! Sorry.
It was great when Eddie forget the Grievance line and apologised, the Even Flow solos and vibe were awesome, Rockin was ridiculously intense by the end! It was sweet - i dont mean to whine. I JUST WANT MORE AND I CAN't HAVE IT!!!!!! ARAAAAAAARGH@!!!!!!!!

I'm sure everyone that goes to PJ concerts could name songs that they wished had been played...and that will always be with a band that has such a huge amount of songs....sadly they can't play them all.....could you imagine that concert!!!
"I'm sure everyone that goes to PJ concerts could name songs that they wished had been played...and that will always be with a band that has such a huge amount of songs....sadly they can't play them all.....could you imagine that concert!!!"
True true i know - but still think a total of 1 song from NC,Bin,RA and just 2 each from Vit, and Yield is a little (just a little) disappointing when i've flown in from a different country!! Honestly it was great though, just great to see em. I just wish i was stayin' tomorrow night!
Thanx for that very enthousiastic review ozpjman. I am still in the office in the other end of the world but I have not done much work today. Keep reliving my PJ concert.... It is so good to read these stories!!!

Hmmmm, well you're no help, r u! hehehe! I'm sure I'll find something, just thought I'd ask in case you knew of somewhere.....just don't fancy driving all the way back to Dwellingup after the show...might crash at my brothers...he's up your way.....only 18 more sleeps!!! probably 17, really, as I doubt I'll be able to sleep the night before.....and if/when we get daylight savings, that'll bring us another 2 hours closer!!!! LOL!! YAY!

'Holier than thou, how?'
Crowd = crazyyy woooooo!!

True true i know - but still think a total of 1 song from NC,Bin,RA and just 2 each from Vit, and Yield is a little (just a little) disappointing when i've flown in from a different country!! Honestly it was great though, just great to see em. I just wish i was stayin' tomorrow night!
