Well, no one could find ANY articles about the "spitting on the soldiers at the airport" claim you made. One can see why someone would question fairytale stories.
I second RRs assessment, I really think it is great to get a handle on the sorts of jobs that the locals are happy to endure until their ending.
I'm sure the are happy when the jobs do come to end.Good point.
But kudos to Dan for taking the hand he was offered and not being shy about accepting the locals hospitality. Most tourists are tugged and pulled to all the usual attractions. Not Musky,He chose the beaten path less travelled,to see what was in the dark nooks and crannies.Ya Know really soaking in the easy, steady laid back ways of Southeast Asia.I think he really found a way to let loose and enjoy.Good for him.
I tell Ya, I haven't been around many more hard working people than these Vietamese people. They are hustlers which I totally appreciate and all seem to do it with a smile on their face. It's all about the barter in this country and its so much fun for me haggling over price for everything. One thing I was not prepared for were all the Russians tourists. Russians with Big $.... Talked to a few and this is their Miami evidently....NHa TRang.... It's pretty funny seeing these slobby pale white Russians on the beach in their speedo's and other hysterical outfits. The few I have met have been pretty cool, but they treat the Vietnamrse like Dog Shit.... It's nice being In a spot where when the locals smile and treat you a little better when they find out you are not Russian, but American or Aussie. They especially like us cause we tip.... Nobody tips here. All beers are under a buck so I just have to tip for that reason alone... I will say the pollution is a massive problem and they have pretty much fished out their whole coastline. Conservation is not part of the Vietamese values which is real sad. I took a pretty good wipe-out on my board and literally had a plastic bad covering my face when I surfaced...fucking discusting. TET is coming up soon, which is their new year. You should see how they are preparing for this blowout week . Insane food, beautiful flowers, fireworks and all sorts of other crazy Asian stuff. Anyhow, the more I go to places like this the more prouder I am of being and American. We got it real good guys as I am sure you all know.
