You know BB, I clicked on the link and it took more than 7 seconds to load so I just clicked out of it and thought "I don't give a fuck what John McCain says."

BB,it's the protesters right to say what they want. But in that setting it was just bad form and obnoxious.Every Secratary of state has blood on their hands in one form or another. But protesting things that were popular 40 years ago just sounds asinine. How about not worrying about Kissinger and protest the disgraceful child labor laws in Vietnam happening today .Thats worthy of attention,no?
Good for McCain, they were assholes and DC metro def dropped the ball allowing protesters up that close.Nothing to see here except idiots in pink.

maybe the better course would have been for McCain to make a statement about the constitutionally protected right to free assembly but in a more appropriate forum. Then have them removed. frankly from a public servant this kind of behavior is unbecoming. In my opinion.

While I agree that these protesters were in bad form, crony McCain showed equal bad form in calling them "low-life scum"
I agree RR that every SoS has blood on their hands, but Kissinger has a hell of a lot to answer for in particular. It shows McCain's warmongering character when he considers some loudmouth kids worthy of the moniker "low-life scum" over a figurative mass murderer.

Ya know, there's effective protesting and there's bad protesting. Code Pink has been known in the past for being very pushy and giving protestors around the world a bad name. They could have done this SO much better, but their poor form and almost desperate actions lend them incredibility.

Also, I originally saw this story last night on NBC Nightly News. You could hear someone in the news station actually applaud McCain after the camera went back to the anchor. That was in even more poor form, since news anchors/stations are supposed to be NEUTRAL and just report the news. Can we all agree that mainstream news is just a joke now?

  • i love how mccain falls all over himself to defend kissinger the war criminal. it says something about his character, does it not?

mccain is reduced to the old man who yells at his tv and is angry at everyone who is younger than he. he is nothing but a hack, and to me he is just a joke. we have this idiot to thank for bringing us sarah palin.

I don't know Gimme. There is a lot worse then McCain out there. He would have been a solid President IMO,At least where Foriegn affairs are concerned anyway. He made a huge mistake with Palin who is a Ditz.I know you are blinded a bit with that Democratic Party line you so fervently tow ,but McCain is at least a patriot and has spent his life in service for our country. So in my book that earns my full respect.

if there are a lot worse than mccain, i would like to see you name a few, just to gauge what you consider "bad". this was a reasonable man in 2000. now he is gone off the crazy end.

mccain would not have made a solid president. he makes shitty decisions, ie sarah palin. he is a war hawk, and he is a hothead. he is the sonny corleone of the senate. had he won we would have bombed iran AND iraq. we would be really fucked right now if mccain had won. if you look at mccain's foreign policy voting record you would see that he would have been a terrible president. mccain never saw a country he wouldn't bomb. he wanted to start a war in libya over benghazi. puh lease. there are parallels between kissinger and mccain, and kissinger is one of the reasons why we are hated by most of the rest of the world.

and for the record, since you are newer around here, just because i would never, ever support a republican for any office and i would never ever give my money to one does not mean i "fervently tow" the democratic party line. there are more choices than democrat and republican. if you have read many of my posts you would see that mainstream democrats are too conservative for me on the issues that matter. i criticize individual democrats a lot.

and if someone thinks "patriotism" is sufficient criteria for voting for someone, they should not be allowed to vote. that is like saying "rick perry has good hair, i am voting for him." nevermind the fact that he has shit inside his skull underneath that beautiful, exquisite hair.

patriotism does not equal intelligence, or wisdom, or political savvy, or leadership.

i am a patriot, do you think i would i be a good president? soldiers are patriots, would every single one of them be qualified to be president? people who fight for their country love their country. do you think that any one of those dead iraqis, or afghans, or isis fighters, or germans, or japanese, or italians loved their country any less than our soldiers love theirs? any less than you and i love ours?

had to jump in on this one since I am sitting in Honk Kong International right now waiting for my flight to Hanoi. John McCain has every right to call those dummies any name he wants. That hero spent 5.5 years in a Northern Vietnam prisoner camp. Can you imagine what it was like to be a POW??? And then come back 2 your country and deal with non sence of the twisted pansy ass flower children.... I know I wouldn't handled it too well. Anyhow, this should be a real interesting trip for next 3 weeks.. I have Always wanted to see Vietnam having many of a relative fight in that war, Plus I really want see how Charlie Surfs;). I am literally staying at the beach where Bobby Duval bombs the beach in appocolaspe Now to go surfing... Fucking Luv that scene. Btw, Hong Kong is the tits. What a fun, clean, and rockin city....

Cruz,Santorum,Boehner, etc are all worse IMO.and no I don't put patriotism as a litmus test for the office, but I respect people who don't just talk a good game but have put in the time and experience into making this country better.I am not a fan of the current admin, but I respect the office and respect the fact that Obama THINKS he is always doing what's in this countries best interest. And damn dude, you think mainstream dems are to conservative? Are you for real? Do you really fall that far left?

Anytime I hear or feel anger in one side or the other as they argue their case,it raises red flags with me in said persons ability to see things unbiasedly.I think this is a huge problem with the current state of affairs in gov and with pundits today.I get the passion, and interest but no one so blinded with anger is even willing to see positive qualities in the other sides ideas or thoughts and this divides not brings us closer to compromise. Not to single you out Rod,I'm talking in general.

There is no far left. There are no socialists, no communists, no radicals in office on the left. It is a myth perpetrated by the likes of Limbaugh and OReilly. How can you suggest the Dem party is too liberal when they wholeheartedly accept TARP, Iraq war, Patriot Act, NSA spying, whistleblower prosecution, capital cronyism, Citizens United etc. etc...

McCain is a Old Elitist Fuck that thinks the people he (supposedly) serves are "scum bags".
Further more he thinks GA tickets should only go to the Elitist old boys club.
I remember when, yeah. I swore I knew everything, oh yeah.

Mainstream Dems are too conservative. But that's beside the point. Every single thing we know about politicians and people actually are applauding McCain of all people? For being an asshole? We may as well applaud Bill Belichick for insisting he knows nothing about deflatgate yet was caught cheating in 2007.

i was going by your post count, and the fact that i only first noticed you in the mike brown ferguson threads. sorry if i assumed incorrectly.

i agree with you when you say those people are worse. it shows that you can recognize the kooks as well as i can.

i am glad that you respect the office, because there is not a single republican in the house or senate that does.

and yes, to me, mainstream dems are too conservative on the issues that matter to me. the funny thing is, the conservative parties in most other countries are more to the left than the mainstream democratic party. they laugh when i tell them that the dems are considered to be on the liberal end of things.

i had an australian girlfriend who always used to tell me "americans invented 2 things. patriotism, and size XXXXL shorts"... i still smile when i think of that one...

i knew you weren't singling me out. i did not take it as such.

i am angry because we have wasted 6 years trying to move forth an agenda and the other side can only say no, and offer no viable alternatives. then you have boehner who has already sued the president for not implementing a clause that republicans have been against since day. one. see that? suing for NOT implementing something that they opposed. now boehner is going to sue him again. it is frustrating and it is maddening. i just want to call every one of them and say "THIS CONCERNED TAX PAYER IS ASKING YOU TO STOP PLAYING POLITICS AND FUCKING DO WHAT YOU WERE ELECTED TO DO!!!!!"

personally i think this backfired on mccain. everyone is complaining about how he handled it. had he said nothing, the codepink movement would have gotten no coverage. now codepink is getting free press.

way to go senator hothead. well done.

bernie sanders is a socialist who caucuses with the dems.

sanders and elizabeth warren are the only true progressives in all of congress.

to be fair to the dems of 2001-2003 though, they initially had to vote for the patriot act, or they would have been branded as unamerican evildoers. renewing it is what i blame them for.

True progressives are laughed out of politics by the media, pushed out of being status quo influential because we're considered "radical". Yeah, wanting positive change in this country and you're considered a radical. But if you are a Democrat, a "status quo" dem, you are welcome to stay as long as you don't talk about taking care of anyone but ourselves (you socialist!), welcome fossil fuels (to cater the FF industries and receive money from their lobbyists), and you don't stir the pot. Any of it.

Because the basis of this country is to keep the people sheep and asleep. We don't want any progressives to actually get people thinking...
