Dude don't even get me started on that. I've been a member since the beginning and I think they cancelled me again this year and last year made me work really hard just to get my damn Roll Call single.
I feel your pain.
I even contacted Ground Control to see where the Roll Call membership renewal links could be found on the website.
They told me they aren't even offering this as an option at this point...
and they had no information as to when they would be available for purchase!! @-)

are you guys actually trying to say that there's a fan club worse than 10c?? damn my optimism. thank you for showing the err of my ways...

TOOL has a pretty bad one. Still haven't received my sweatshirt or received a written response… For over a year now, wrote 4 times...
Mjk is too busy with his wine and his joke bands. Waiting nearly a decade btwn albums is a joke. Tool is a side project now, it would seem. I know howerdell said it is because of some lawsuit with some ex-friend of the band who did a bunch of design work and wants a big cut of their pie, but that shouldn't stifle creativity. Unless they want to settle it before anything new so going forward they don't risk future monies.

Well if we're talking about badly run fan clubs in an attempt to take a bit of the heat off of the 10C, i actually think TMR's The Vault has issues, if that can even be considered a fan club. Yes, the quarterly items are super sweet (of course, they better be - I pay $280 a year for them! The TMR store has way cooler shit than 10C does too, but i don't consider that part of any fan-based club, and TMR the record company is just on a way higher level so they aren't comparable). But other than that, it's garbage. There are NO notification emails about show/tour announcements or Vault ticket pre-sales or early entry draws. That alone renders the program awful. Plus, the website is practically unnavigatable (is that a word?) - I can't find anything on that fucked up site - and there is no message board at all, just a really terrible chat room that feels like it was designed in 2001. Plus, their payment options suck. I wanted to change my payment method, and there is no way to do it unless your card has expired. That's what customer service actually told me. Also, one of my Vaults simply never shipped to me. I had to email them 3 times before someone actually acknowledged that it had simply never been mailed - no particular reason. They just forgot (they did finally send it).
That said, if they don't forget to ship it, the package is TRACKED to Canada, and reaches me quickly, and the shipping cost is cheaper than 10C's, and it comes from MUCH farther away. 10C, maybe you should talk to TMR about their shipping plan! Seems they sniffed out a better system than you did!

I'm not a member of other fan clubs but for the price we pay for this one and considering it's a fairly small operation that brings us some fantastic opportunities and now a monthly update whilst dealing with what must be one of the most rabid dog fanbases in the world I would say we should feel very happy with your lot.
I'd say we have a lot to be thankful for and should consider ourselves lucky

I think the 10 club is fine. Everyone has their issues, and if I waste my time complaining.... thats time I could be doing something that makes me happy instead of pissed off.
But other than that, it's garbage. There are NO notification emails about show/tour announcements or Vault ticket pre-sales or early entry draws. That alone renders the program awful.
I love the way TMR works. Jack White has worked this way for years. You had to know somebody who knew somebody to find out about secret shows, or the way he distributed a 3" record to random people he happen to come in contact with... so he could give it to them personally.
A lot of the secrecy has ended due to twitter...it enables people to know things quicker. And if you know who to follow you get all the information you need.
I would love PJ to announce a show on their website or twitter on a Wed. afternoon, have pre-sales immediately and sell out that night... for those that just happened to be paying attention.
Just like I would love more random drops of merch.

Completely agree with you. I actually didn't realize it, but it says in the Third Man FAQ that no emails will be sent for tour pre-sales, etc. The two businesses are both great, but the reason for joining The Vault is vinyl, while 10club has primarily been tickets to shows. I feel like the communication from each club has been great for what the focus is.

I think you've misunderstood me. Yes, secret shows and surprise merch drops and stuff are awesome. I also wish 10C would do more of that. But that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about huge tour announcements and general fan club pre-sales. For $280 a year I expect to be notified about stuff like that, and there is no reason in shouldn't be. There is nothing fun or special about a tour announcement or a general club pre-sale. This practice of not notifying paying members about that very basic stuff is pointless and leaves fans without tix for no good reason.

I agree with you. I guess Third Man considers The Vault more of a vinyl subscription service and less of a fan club. It would be cool to get the ticket notifications, but I am in it more for the vinyl anyway. With facebook groups and twitter alerts you generally get a heads up for ticket sales, but its only about 24-48 hour notice. Maybe one day they will change things up.

Yea, I agree the Vault to me is a vinyl subscription service: $30 for the LP, $15 for the 7", and $15 for the extra item (DVD, Flag, etc.). I think anything else you get is just extra.
I've never had a bad experience with 10c before. That being said, I got shipping emails 10 days ago for my vault vinyls and they haven't left 10c yet. Pretty disappointed that it's been 10 days and they haven't been packed up and I can't get a response from 10c.

But it's a subscription that includes Jack White tour announcements, ticket pre-sales and early entry draws, and you have to pay money to get this benefit. That kind of makes it a fan club (within a record company), no? As long as they're offering tix and early entry draws to subscribers, it's more than just a vinyl subscription IMHO.

I've never had a problem with 10C, always quick responses via email, shipping is touch and go and kinda pricey for the time and lack of tracking info to Canada but could be a lot worse and for what I get I am a happy camper all in all.
The thing I like the most, and not saying anyone in this thread does it or would do it, but for all the complaining about 10C; flash sales, pre-order sales, limited sales, lost items, long shipping, expensive shipping, poor communication, too much merch, not enough merch, email not going out on time, email going out while someone was asleep, email going out while someone was on a plane, pre-determined sale while someone was asleep, or at work, not happy with a sale, not happy with the packaging, not happy with vault selections, not happy with hand made mugs, limits on sticker purchases, no limits on sticker purchases, limits on poster purchases, no limits on poster purchases, not happy with the forum, not happy with the forum colours, not happy about being able to post pics on the forum easily etc...
...as soon as SLH comes on here, people get the lip balm out, pucker up and just go to town kissing his ass.
I've had nothing but good experiences with 10c orders. Even mail innovations managed to deliver my goods (to the opposite coast) in a week or less.
They helped me out when I had a problem with damaged merch too.
For those who haven't gotten those emails, have you checked your spam/junk folders? It sounds dumb but I had 10c emails show up in there a few times.
