I am pretty sure I am the only one here who likes these guys, but Idlewild is my favorite opener by far. I would love to see them get the nod to join PJ as an opener for the inevitable PJ25 tour

They'd be in the top 3 of pj openers for me but I've hated most of them. MMJ was already one of my faves when they opened.

The tour in 2010 was perfect....Ben Harper & Relentless 7.

Boring snoozefest and way too long set (60 minutes). Only highlight was the duet with Eddie on Under Pressure. Especially in London it was brutal after high energy sets by Gaslight Anthem and The Hives.

Ben has some pretty good songs, but I just did not like the opening sets this time.
I have no idea how people can say Ben Harper is boring? He is one of the best vocalists in the world, he sings/plays with so much heart and passion, he generally sings songs differently each time around. Not to mention he totally slays on the slide guitar, just as awesome as a McCready solo imo and the jams/grooves are just incredible. My Morning Jacket now that shit is a snoozefest. X and Mudhoney are boring too.

England is full of idiots anyway so always going to be a rough crowd at a festival.
I love Ben Harper, and have seen him at least 15 times, but you gotta admit, the Relentless 7 project really was his most boring and uninspiring project. Its great that he changes things up over the years, but I'd much rather see him with the IC or solo. On that Relentless 7 tour, they had a part in their set where each member would do their own solo, and after being put to sleep by it in Vancouver, I timed it in New York, and the drum solo alone was over 10 minutes long.

Manchester Orchestra!! Awesome band, ridiculously good live, a great fit with PJ, and deserve to have a way bigger audience than they currently do.

Jake Bugg. Just saw a video of him at the Royal Albert Hall and he had an extra guitarist playing with him. It made his songs sound a little heavier. I think that would be interesting.

Agreed, I'd say its better. The last two PJ records were so fucking dull, Brendon O'Brian again?! Pul-ease.
