If Pearl Jam had an opening act, who should it be?

I dont care much for that Future Islands clip. I love w/o an opener but if they have to I really enjoyed Ben Harper. Ben Harper rocking (relentless 7) and not going all Jack Johnson easy listening is totally kickass.

Ben Harper would be awesome... although isn't he beyond being an opening act for anyone at this point? With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0

I wouldn't mind at all if Glen Hansard graduated from EV solo opener to PJ opener

If there is an opener, I figure it should be an act that gets the crowd pumped up, as opposed to super mellow. With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0

Sure, the Hip and PJ touring together would be awesome, but as double headliners. The Tragically Hip shouldn't be opening for anybody! With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful. Strive to be happy. ~ Desiderata0

I feel exactly the same way when I hear people suggest My Morning Jacket open for PJ...

What is the coles notes version of the Americanarama debacle?0 -
When the tour was announced...
they said it would be rotating headliners.
Bob Dylan would headline on night, Wilco the next,
and then My Morning Jacket next.
This never happened.
They also added another "opening" act for many shows...
leaving even less time for the other groups.
MMJ ended up getting about a half hour,
Wilco got 45 minutes & Dylan played maybe 90 minutes.
Ticket sales really dropped off when people found out about this and they ended up cancelling many of the shows!!'96: Seattle: Key Arena

No more openers please.I'll ride the wave where it takes me......0

I don't understand why anyone would care if there is an opener unless they are front of GA and not wanting to leave it, since an opener means extending their time on their feet and unable to go to the washroom (and I totally empathize with that position). If that's not the situation, though, why would you not want an opener? You can either check it out, or take your time getting to the show. PJ doesn't play for less time when they have an opener, so that couldn't be the reasoning behind it.With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be careful.
