My hatred of "Come Back" has nothing to do with the tempo of the song. It's a generic and boring piece of shit, regardless of how fast it's played, and I'm sick of people talking about how great it is, and then bashing PJ's more inventive and interesting songs such as those written by Matt Cameron. Apparantly, if a song has interesting chords and tempo changes, it's a "shitty song", but crap like "Come Back" is worshipped by the masses. People compare it to "Black", talk about how it was in "Friday Night Lights", how it should be their prom song, how it touches them in a special way and makes them cry, etc...you people are fucking LAME! "Black" and "Come Back" shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath.
Interesting chords and tempo changes do not a good song make, guy. Simplicity can be a good thing, as much as snobs hate to admit it.
Smokey Robinson constantly looks like he's trying to act natural after being accused of farting.
I don´t care what you say, but I totally love Come Back. It´s one of my favorite songs. I hope that when they Come Back to South America, they play it.
Come Back is great, my second favorite song on that record.
It is the first PJ song with a discernable soul influence and I think that is fantastic.
The Man has a branch office in each of our brains, his corporate emblem is a white albatross, each local rep has a cover known as the Ego, and their mission in this world is Bad Shit.

I certainly understand you're not liking the song because you think it's boring, but why do think that it is generic? Pearl Jam has never attempted anything remotely like this, and it is nothing like a typical rock "power" ballad. It is certainly "experimental" for Pearl Jam if not for someone like Otis Reading.

I love Come Back, it's my favorite song on Avocado, and I couldn't give a flying fuck who else likes it or dislikes it. Everybody is different. But it's a special song to me and that's all I care about.
Boring, generic, lame, unimaginative...the worst song on Pearl Jam's worst album. It's not even worthy of being a Bon Jovi song.
They should have included another Matt Cameron song instead...to give the album some merit, and to piss off Message Pit members with bad taste in music.

I thought "come back" was one of the best songs on this album, then again i thought the whole album was great.
Avocado = a fantastic record, not their worst at all (if there is one at all, I truly love them all!)

>>>>those of you who like every single PJ song are most likely, not being objective
Could you explain how it's possible to be objective when discussing which songs you do and do not like?
I would say I like 99% of Pearl Jam's songs, some more than others of course, and I could promptly give a rabbit's fuck if I'm being objective. Why do people put such a high price on this arbitrary "objectivity?"
And no, "Come Back" is most assuredly not Pearl Jam's worst song. That honor would go to "Sweet Lew," maybe one of the songs in that elusive 1%.

But not as much as I like squirrels. Those damn things are so adorable. I was watching one eat a nut on campus the other day, and I was thinking, man, those damn things really are adorable.
Plus, I was really hungry and I think watching him eat the nut was some kind of cathartic release. That or I was just subconsiously plotting a way to steal it from him.
I also find sleight of hand and nothing as it seems to be boring and I skip those to
beer/bathroom songs at shows
Personally, Sleight of Hand's lyrics (combined with a whole bunch of other personal details) may have influenced my life more than those of any other song I have ever heard. I think it's a very powerful song!

I think I like you! You like Come Back, (well you don't think it's the worse song in the catalogue), you don't hurt bunnies and you like other small critters!
Worst song? Worst album? "Come Back" is an amazing song. It's one of the best songs on the album, and this last album is better than both Binaural and Riot Act. Can anyone honestly say that "Heyfoxymophandlemama that's me" and "Bugs" are better than "Come Back?" If so, I've got a killer recording of myself banging some pots and pans while playing a kazoo that you'll love.
Wow...the original poster is crazy. This song is absolutely amazing. When I first got the album, this was the song I kept repeating...It's so powerful, and when Mike rips into the solo, it almost brings tears to your eyes. One of the best songs, and sounds great live too.

"No need to be void or save up on life...
You got to spend it all..."
If I keep holding out,... will the light shine through?
Under this broken roof,... it's only rain that I feel
I've been wishing out the days,... come back
I have been planning out,... all that I'd say to you
Since you slipped away,... know that I still remain true
I've been wishing out the days,...
Please say, that if you hadn't of gone now
I wouldn't have lost you another way
From wherever you are,... come back
And these days, they linger on
And in the night, as I'm waiting on
The real possibility I may meet you in my dream
I go to sleep
If I don't fall apart,.... will the memories stay clear?
So you had to go,..... and I had to remain here
But the strangest thing to date
So far away
And yet you feel so close
And I'm not gonna question it any other way
There must be an open door
For you to
Come back
And the days, they linger on
And every night, what I'm waiting for
Is the real possibility I may meet you in my dream
And sometimes you're there
And you're talking back to me
Come the morning I could swear you're next to me
And it's okay.
It's okay.
It's okay.
