    I think that because I have such a strong desire to see people free my opinions of police that violate civil rights are very intense. I do not advocate violence as an initial act from either side. That said, if any person's life were in danger I would support their right to defend themselves.

    I can't stand people making excuses for police that commit these acts. I feel it is a dangerous path to go down.

    This situation is exactly what I am calling it in the other thread. Laws that are written that create a victim where there previously was not one and those that violate the civil rights of an individual are irresponsible and immoral. I'm not going to shut up about it, despite the reactions given by some on this forum. They know nothing of what I do to protest this. I am certainly more than a PJ forum keyboard commando.

    I took exception to the cheap shot Hedonist fired at teachers when she said she'd bet teachers were making the same comments. It wasn't necessary. It implies male teachers are leering perverts and shows serious disrespect.

    Whoa, whoa, Thirty! It wasn't intended as a shot at all and as you said, could apply to any profession. I mentioned teachers due to the environment in which this occurred. Inappropriate either way.

    People are never satisfied. Teachers and law enforcement are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

    For example, when kids are bullied... people light their hair on fire and say, "Where the fuck are the authorities and why aren't they doing anything?" When authorities take steps to curb bullying- say, by seizing a phone with inappropriate pictures on it... people light their hair on fire and say, "Where do the authorities think they can trample on students' rights like they just did?"

    Drugs have no place in schools. I know they are there, but let's get serious... at a minimum... drug activities interfere with learning and erode a positive learning environment. If we value education at all, we must agree that drugs do not belong in the schools.

    I'm not saying this incident is a shining beacon of success for curbing drug usage in our schools, but it was an effort nonetheless. Many autistic kids do not display characteristics you would compare to the Rain Man. This kid could very easily come across as 'odd' versus full on 'out there'. I don't think the undercover narc would have had access to any students' confidential and personal records to know exactly who he was dealing with. I also think the narc had many rods in the fire- it's highly unlikely they based the premise of their entire sting operation on one kid and ceased it- calling it a success- after a half a joint for $30.
