The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun.

My friend almost did it. It's not a simple thing. You have to have a regular doctor who you see regularly, after trying other crap like adjusting diet exercise environment and pharmaceuticals the doctor might recommend you for a sleep study. Then you have to have an appointment with the specialist & they send you home with some gadget you hook up to yourself to sleep with, then you have to go back and hand in the gadget, wait for "the results", get referred to the place where you sleep there with them watching you, and insurance doesn't cover the whole thing. I think he had to pay 20%, plus all those co pays for all those visits. And in the end it's just for them to confirm what you already figured. He got up to the "go sleep at this place" part when he gave up. After the take home gadget they're like "you have sleep apnea" he's like "yea... I know. Fix it!"
I seriously doubt my insurance would cover any of this nonsense.NYC 06/24/08-Auckland 11/27/09-Chch 11/29/09-Newark 05/18/10-Atlanta 09/22/12-Chicago 07/19/13-Brooklyn 10/18/13 & 10/19/13-Hartford 10/25/13-Baltimore 10/27/13-Auckland 1/17/14-GC 1/19/14-Melbourne 1/24/14-Sydney 1/26/14-Amsterdam 6/16/14 & 6/17/14-Milan 6/20/14-Berlin 6/26/14-Leeds 7/8/14-Milton Keynes 7/11/14-St. Louis 10/3/14-NYC 9/26/15

That's what I was thinking...I don't have 'insurance', I have that savings account the company puts money into (kinda like FSA, but they got rid of that and forced everybody to do the HSA). There are other things I need to use that money on.ldent42 said:My friend almost did it. It's not a simple thing. My Insurance covered the in-home study. My Doctor told me that most Insurance will cover the in-home, but a lot won't cover if the Doctor wants you to go to the Sleep Study Center.ldent42 said:My friend almost did it. Well, when i went and picked up this device, the person who gave it to me said that being at the Sleep Study Center is A LOT BETTER then the in-home one. Nothing i can do about it. I know when i didn't have insurance and my Doctor wanted me to go to the Sleep Study Center: it would've cost me $8000 !!!>Maybe that's why Insurance won't cover going to the Sleep Study Center? I told another Doctor what they wanted to charge me and he said: "That's a rip-off."
Maybe you can ask your Doctor for the in-home study and MAYBE your insurance will cover it? I know it's not the best but it's better then nothing, i guess.

Would a sleep study actually serve a purpose for people with insomnia though?
I feel like you'd just be laying there unable to sleep and feeling awkward.NYC 06/24/08-Auckland 11/27/09-Chch 11/29/09-Newark 05/18/10-Atlanta 09/22/12-Chicago 07/19/13-Brooklyn 10/18/13 & 10/19/13-Hartford 10/25/13-Baltimore 10/27/13-Auckland 1/17/14-GC 1/19/14-Melbourne 1/24/14-Sydney 1/26/14-Amsterdam 6/16/14 & 6/17/14-Milan 6/20/14-Berlin 6/26/14-Leeds 7/8/14-Milton Keynes 7/11/14-St. Louis 10/3/14-NYC 9/26/15

I doubt they'd be wasting their time with it if it serves no purpose.ldent42 said:Would a sleep study actually serve a purpose for people with insomnia though?
