It's time for Hammas to put down their weapons. While they still have the worlds attention. Otherwise I think this may be all for nothing....and Israel will bide their time until the world forgets and tat the lawn" again.
Why don't you ask for the Israeli's to put down their weapons too?
The Palestinians have the right to defend themselves under international law.
I don't know why i keep responding to you, i mean you never actually respond to the completely logical answers i give or admit when you are wrong (ie the ridiculous article you posted yesterday that i proved was a lie...), but here goes: your suggustion is ridiculous for two reasons 1) he suggested that hamas put down their weapons, not the palestinians. Don't you see a difference? The only ones that the people of gaza have to worry about (besids hamas of course...) is israel. If israel gaurentees, with international guarentees, not to attack at all if gaza becomes a demilitirized zone, than there would be no need for them to have weapons. Spend the money on schools and hospitals instead of rockets and tunnels. 2) unfortuntely, israel has many enemies that would like to erase her from the map (syria, iran, el-quida...). If israel became a demiliterised country, how long do you think that it would take until israel was attacked?
I wish that this was a viable option. That way, i would not have to report to reserve duty every year and my children would not have to serve when they reach the age of 18. The huge amounts of money spent every year on security could go to more important things like schools (i am a teacher and know fierst hand how important this is), infrastructure, hospitals...

How does the us t.v. media paint the end of ceasefire? Let's wait and see...my guess 1. Start with Ebola story 2. Hamas broke ceasefire by firing rockets Israel responding with hitting targets (i personally love the "hitting targets" term used. i just haven't figured it out why they use it? Implying that they are precise unlike Hamas rockets but then are 2000 civilians and 450 children targets? Or is it because they can say fired on Israel 12,189 times only hitting 8000 targets (the rest civilians...ooops) compared to Hamas 3000 or so rockets but anyway. 3. Go to the Hawaii hurricane 4. Now backed to failed ceasefire agreements talks then put on Netnyahoo blaming Hamas for everything including his hemorrhoids. 5. Then a story on global terrorism
Someone explain how Hamas disarms? Be specific...its the reason Israel says why they rejected the agreement. I cannot find the specifics of what they mean? "Disarm?" What about the factions outside of Hamas, are they also to disarm? Or the guy that just seen his 3 kids murdered 11days ago, should he disarm? I understand the blockage lifting and open borders i just don't know what disarming specially means? Can they "somewhat" disarm?

How do you want it covered? Stop watching cnn and go to Aljazeera. You will find the same report... Except for Netanyahu interviews, it will be with Gaza citizens preparing for more war.

They should. But we both know that's not going to happen.
At some point someone has to show the courage to not fight back to end the violence, I sure as hell know that's not going to be the Israeli government. They seem hell bent on keeping Gaza under their thumb.
Stop the rockets and start making demands. Like an end to this terrible blockade.
Please define put down their arms? What does disarm mean?
For me, this means turning the whole of gaza into a demilitarised zone: turn over all remaing rockets and firearms to israel or the un. Keep an agreed amount of guns (hand guns, not ak47) for a police force with the goal of keeping law and order. Hamas are the ones officialy in charge, so it is there responsibility to disarm all other weaponised groups in gaza.
I think that if this is done, it will prove to israel and the world that they just want to advance their people instead of killing israelis. In turn, i believe that israel would agree to many (and eventually all) of the current demands. No chance of israel attacking gaza ever again if this is done. All any israeli wants is quiet from the fear of hamas (to all who doubt that people in israel are afraid, pull your head out of your ass).

do you truly believe that israel will meet any of those demands if they disarm?? Do you actually buy that phoney baloney? This is about money, israel will lose alot of it by allowing the Palestinians to have some. If you really think this is about rockets over israel you are eating propaganda for dinner.

As far as your other point, i do not believe that Israel and Hamas can have peace. I don't think it's possible.
i dont have the means to find and post articles to back up my assertions, but i think it is BEYOND OBVIOUS that controlling the borders, the trade, and even the fishing industry nets Israel profit! Not to mention that it is a simple issue of competition, its easy to be top dog when you crush your neighbors economy. Idealogically, i think if Israel wanted peace, they would have had it decades ago...you know, back when the hamas scumbags and terror tactics didnt exist yet.

With all due respect (you are a good voice on the MT), this is the second post I've read on these forums in the last day or two where you have thrown out your unsubstantiated opinion as fact- the other was where you claimed the overwhelming majority of cops were unethical.
This forum would be a disaster if all everybody did was toss in their hunches or sentiments regardless of legitimacy or not.
Do as you please, but I think it is in better form to research what you intend to say before you say it (kind of like 'think before you speak').

What? Like it agreed to abide by the Oslo accords and then breached them almost immediately? Like it agreed to the 2012 ceasefire and then breached it immediately? Sure, past experience has show that they're so trustworthy.
2) unfortuntely, israel has many enemies that would like to erase her from the map (syria, iran, el-quida...). If israel became a demiliterised country, how long do you think that it would take until israel was attacked?

Or maybe the Israeli's should simply comply with their obligations under international law instead? End the illegal occupation and the blockade. Withdraw the illegal settlers. And then fortify their legal borders.

i do appreciate what you are saying, and would provide backup from time to time if i had the means. I would also counter that this place gets bogged down in "reference" material that rarely gets taken seriously anyways. Some things are common sense and dont need any support. Regarding the coppers, in context my comments were elucidating that most people have ethical speedbumps that would render them hypocrits were they to attempt to enforce laws that they themselves break. Such as, if you drink alcohol to the point of inebriation, and give someone a life ruining marijuana citation, you are an unethical hypocrit. Regarding war and money, I think it is beyond common sense that war is waged for the profit of the few, and again if i was able to get more specific I would. In this forum I take it for granted that folks have better internet access than me, and if they truly wish to prove or disprove my assertions, they should be able to easily. Let's remember that this is a rock band's fan club forum, not a diplomatic envoy or college classroom. That being said, i do understand where you are coming from and appreciate the civil tone!

i convey myself pretty negatively on the interwebs, yall would be surprised how positive and courteous i am in real life lol i think its a common thing to express your negative side on the webs...not right but ive made peace with it! Lol
They did and now your peaceful freedom fighters are at it again.Im sure they have the Palestinian general publics well being in mind right?
Did they agree to end the illegal blockade of Gaza and the release of the prisoners?
I'm in agreement that should come. But you have to stabalize the area, deal with humanitarian issues and stop the fighting.THEN negotiate long term agreements.
Ya know Byrnzie,I think you are one of the more educated and passionate members here and of course I respect that, but it freaks me out how blindly you follow and dismiss the actions of Hamas as if they have no part in this cluster fuck.I can't for the life of me figure out how you don't see them as a detriment to the Palestinian movement. Really? As discussed, years ago, the PLO wore black masks and terrorized the area much the same. The gorilla warfare tactics remain the same.

Rg, i am not buying any "phoney baloney". I am, as a person who actually lives in israel, telling you the way that i, and many of the people in my country, actually feel. Considering that, despite popular belief here, israel is a real democrocy, the goverment will change if the elected officials do not fufill the wants of the people.

And regarding the economics, I cannot see how governing Gaza is a profit center. That makes no sense.
