Where are people staying in Katowice? Are there any hotels close by to the railway station that anyone would recommend? Will we be able to get back in time before the public transport stops from Chorzow?
Just book accom at Krakow, and jump on the train with most everyone else from the show :)

I just booked rooms at the Hotel Załęże it seemed closest to Chorzow and it says its 60yards from the train.

This is going to be a pretty common question:

For those of us coming in on the bus from Munich, does anyone know if there's a cloak room at the stadium where we can drop off our backpacks?

  • how many jammers are on the sky europe flight to venice? perhaps we need a jammer hotel in venice as well
Just booked at the Hotel Regit in Mestre. Its near the main train station and much more reasonable than hotels on Venice. I booked it through http://www.traveleurope.it 320euro/quadroom/2 nights Hotels on Venice want at least 320/night

We're staying at the Hotel Diament which I think is near the station (there is also a Hotel Park Diament :o) it looks ok from the website.
So are we strangers now? Like rock and roll and the radio?
  • Anyone here flying from Liverpool to Katowice on the 12th June and return flight on the 14th June

    Original flight times were

    Liverpool 12th depart 08.05 arrive Katowice 11.25
    Katowice 14th depart 06.00 arrive Liverpool 07.35

Wizzair have changed the flights, they are now

    12th depart 13.40 arrive Katowice 17.00
    14th depart 13.40 arrive Liverpool 17.00

This has fucked me right up now, coz the return flight was 6.00am i was going to get a taxi to airport after the concert and just stay there until flight at 6.00am. Now i need a fucking hotel and they are all probably booked near stadium. Looks like i will have to look for a hotel near the airport
  • i have the exact same problem, what a shitter hey?? fucking hell what to do now hey!!!

I was just looking up some travel advice on Poland and found this:

    http://www.worldtravelguide.net/country/226/passport_visa/Europe/Poland.html

    The important bit:

    (a) All visitors entering Poland must possess sufficient funds (at least PLN300 per day) to cover medical expenses (or a valid insurance policy or official invitation is acceptable instead) and PLN100 per day for accommodation and sustenance. (b) Nationals of countries not referred to in the chart above are advised to contact the embassy to check visa requirements (see Contact Addresses).

So, we're gonna need to carry some Zlotys in cash, ay? I figured I'll need some for the taxi fare anyway, but it seems like I'm gonna need a bit more than that.

They check how much money you have when you enter the country?! Never heard of that before.

Also, if we're only in for a day, do we need to apply for a visa and stuff? I presume not since Poland is in the EU now, but better safe than sorry.

kirkwood - spasiba is in russian, not polish and it's sort of a sore subject with us so careful there! ;)
you can buy train tickets from the ticket inspector but it's more expensive. the usual way to do it is to buy the tix at the train station in ticket boxes.
whether you can make it in time or not depends on how long PJ are gonna play.

fowls... brits and other europeans do not need visas to enter poland! also I highly doubt they are gonna ask you to show them the money. yes, having zlotys is a good idea 'coz this is the currency we use to pay for things here, just like the pound is in britain... you do not, however, need to have the PLN when entering poland, you can easily exchange euros or other currency here in banks or bureau de change (called 'kantor').
travelling is not as difficult as you guys make it seem, let your hair down and enjoy the experience! :)

    oh, and cropdustress: doubt it.

Isn't VELVET a Scottish beer from Tennents?

And BTW people - as karola said, you don't need any visa if you are an EU citizen. They won't check your wallet for money as well.
