Hi everybody ...It was a "it will never happen again" for me.
I met Mike the night before the show ... I was eating in the centre sitting outside and I saw him looking at a shop window ... I reached him and I had a nice talk ... He was so kind that I couldn't believe he was the rockstar I'm used to see on stage! He gave me a pick and kissed me. When I said that I am from Rome he said oh we definitely have to come back ... we haven't been in Rome for a very long time ... I went back to my sit shaking lika a teen age... So touching!!
During the show I was in the second row in front of Mike ... he recognized me ... pointed at me several times like "hey you're the one I met yesterday ... I see you!" ... I asked him smile and he said with his lips "no, I'm sorry ... we can't"....
The show was great ... I loved the connection they had with people ... I loved the way they were having fun ... like Milan ... they were just having a party ... the setlist was great ... something went wrong during even flow because the sound became very bad ...
    Mother was unbelievable
    Oceans made me cry
and last time I had indifference closing the show it was such a long time ago that I really appreciated it a lot ...
    Lot of ten ..
Eddie was so funny ... and I loved the way he played with the globes ...
So ... great show. I was given to fly.
    Thank you guys
    thank you

Great show and the golden circle behaved nicely with plenty of room to move. Sound was pretty good all night but during Red Mosquito it became a little thin. The setlist was a bit 'greatest hits' but some nice surprises thrown in. Only downer for me was the bathroom facilities. Only having like 10 toilet stands in the back of the arena for a 20000+ strong crowd is just not good enough. We were in the line for 1 hour. You can't treat people like this

Below the seating area opposite the stage there were plenty of porta potties (?) where queues probably were shorter. But then again, Friends Arena is the shittiest and least service minded arena ever built on this planet. I even wrote PJ (Eddie) a letter a year ago where I said that when you come to Stockholm next time, DON'T play at Friends Arena, whatever you do. Guess they never saw the letter.

Yeah. I'm sure we were the place you mention but the line was just not moving and it was pretty close to showtime. Was a drag. However the sound was not as bad as I had heard it could be

he looks miles away from being attractive. Lately he is miles away from that anyway :( Glad I am not seeing it happen live!

Yesterday's attendance would have made it sold out.

It was roughly 10.000 more people at the show than what would have sold out Globen. And Globen was sold out last time, with it's 14.000 (?) people in attendance.

  • This was our first concert in Sweden and fourth in total. We liked the venue but the atmosphere really wasn't the best possible because of the people. We we're in first row at normal standing area behind golden circle at far left of the stage, we've been to first rows & 10c areas before so it wasn't so important to us but it's weird to see so energetic show and still didn't see many people dance, jump or sing. Lot of people were just constantly walking back and forth with beer's - in golden circle. It would've been great to see that area full of enthusiasthic fans, not just hanging around.

Setlist was awesome! It's amazing that after three shows (2006 Berlin and 2007+2012 Copenhagen) you still get to hear 14 new songs! When we where driving to airport before our departure i said that maybe we hear Oceans today. And when the acoustic encore started, i wished that maybe this is the moment.. And it was! So emotional moment, what a privilege to hear that song in european concert. This was the second time after 1993, right? Wow!

First time also for us to hear Indifference, Mother, My Father's Son, Red Mosquito, Release, Sometimes, Sonic Reducer + Supersonic, U, off course all the Lightning Bolt tracks.. and Spin the Black Circle!! Vitalogy is most important album for me because it's the album i've bought first when i was like ten years old ;)

There were so many first times for us. First time Porch didn't close the first set, after epic version of Rearviewmirror i was just numbed that they are gone :D First time not to hear Yellow Ledbetter. Maybe that was the reason people were still chanting and quite amused when band left the stage without YL. Indifference was a really great way to seal the night, very touching moment.

Alive, Do the Evolution, EWBTCIAST, Given to Fly, Porch, Why Go, six songs still on the list we've heard every time.

There's so many things about saturdays concert that i would like to point out. Powerful part which started with Go + Animal reminded us of our first concert in Wuhlheide 2006 when they started with epic handful of Go + Save You + Animal + Do the Evolution + Rearviewmirror.

With Pearl Jam you feel everytime that you get everything that music can possibly offer. But when you go home, you still crave for more. See you again on next euro tour!

Friends arena simply isn't the best arena around. Next time they come here I hope it will be the Tele2 arena.

My second show, first one was Globen in 2012. Still processing, but some random thoughts:

    1) Friends Arena is just too much space for a rock concert.

    2) The band seende to be in a good mood. Shoe thing was hilarious. SIGN HER SHOE!

    3) Great Main set! RM and MFS seemed kind of off though.

    4) Golden Circle was awesome! Great people and atmosphere! Only problem for me was i could hardly hear the band cause people were screaming so loud! :)

    5) Oceans, Sometimes, Mother, Green Disease, Release, RVM, Baba...all were great!

    6) So glad I got tickets to Leeds, will be good to see them in a smaller venue as well!

My wife and I travelled from Northern California for this show. Thought the encores were tremendous. The acoustic version of Oceans was awesome! To make this trip even better we met Mike this morning walking along the Stockholm shoreline. He was super cool, we chatted for a few minutes and got a picture. First time ever meeting a member of the band and I'm going on 40 shows so it was really special.

I really liked your story, thanks for sharing :) and I hope you had a nice time in Sweden.

No. They should play the west coast. Two nights at scandinavium, or an intimate show at trädgårdsföreningen :)

Some interesting facts about this show. They played Stockholm 21 years to the day in 1993. If you look at that setlist they played each and every song they played that night this year. Hard to imagine this was just a coincidence.

Men jag läste Svd:s artikel, den var positiv, fast handlade annars mest om skribentens egna tonårsminnen kring PJ.
