  • ^ gonna be a giant influx of material over the next few years I think. He's got so much stuff recorded it's insane.

When you think about it, he's probably got double the amount of studio records as PJ... Which is insane.

I don't consider it an album because its a mish mash of rejected albums. I guess it just depends on how you look at it.

so by your rationale, LOST DOGS isnt an album. :/

I just can't believe your Ryan Adams album hasn't came in yet.

Don't know too too much about Ryan Adams, but from what I have listened to and what I have heard for others, decided to see him in Detroit in November. Pumped!

If you are more of a rock guy.... Listen to Cold Roses and Cardinology (even though most people hate it). If you are more of an anything else guy listen to Love is Hell and Heartbreaker.

But either way....listen to Love is Hell and Heartbreaker from start to finish a few times. Some of the best albums of the 2000's onward.

I do. He's been talking about it too much. Plus he's played a few songs off it. My guess is for RSD in April.
  • 63schoefflin63schoefflin Posts: 2,581
Yeah I was just wondering if it would be ready for RSD. I mean he also showed a pic of the test press years ago and we know how that one turned out.

But yeah I think it's definitely happening, just depends if we hear more before it comes out.

I'd say it's definitely going to come out next year. Having said that, this isn't the first time Ryan has dropped a tease on us and not followed through. I think the test printing of Blackhole was way back in '10. Maybe even longer than that!

Was able to get an advance copy of Vampires.

Vinyl is an awesome translucent purple (or deep red) with smoky black lines throughout.

As with all other releases this year it's completely different sounding. Then again every Ryan Adams release is that way.

Very good tunes. Vampires and Suburbia had a bit of a III/IV feel to them. Really liked Magic Flag. Slow and dark and droning.

Clown Asylum. Well it's just about the worst thing ever recorded and shared with a public audience in the history of the known universe. But that's kind of the point. He does things like that for his own amusement and to piss some people off.

Overall, solid release after a quick listen. Can't wait for the next one.

Have a cheap extra balcony for Detroit and then 2 really good orchestra seats for 11/17 at Carnegie hall as I can't make that trip anymore. PM if you are interested.

    New album is great!

Well so much for the show I was going to see next weekend, my mom is flying in to visit. Wish I could take her to the show but I know it's not her cup of tea (and she doesn't like standing only shows). Oh well.

Bummer! He puts on a great show (when he's not grumpy - which he was at one of the two shows I saw). For anyone trying to get into this guy - if you like pop, listen to Rock 'n' Roll. If you like folk, listen to Heartbreaker (one of my favourite albums of all time - absolutely gorgeous). If you like country, listen to Jacksonville City Nights. If you like jam bands, listen to Cold Roses. If you want a mellow, contemplative album, 29 is great. The dude has worn many hats throughout his prolific career.

Ha, that's the weird thing about him... So many different styles draws in a ton of different types of fans. But the flip side of that is that those same fans that love a few albums will absolutely hate some others it seems.

Personally I think I'm one of the few that love RnR.

That's true... For me, my opinion on most of his albums can vary day to day as well - guess I'm as erratic and nonsensical in my moods as he is.

You pretty much nailed it here. On one hand Clown Asylum is really bloody awful, but on the other hand it's typical of RA to put something like that out isn't it?

I'm listening to Rock n Roll right now. It's a fantastic album to have on in the background, you don't need to analyse it or search for deeper meanings, just enjoy the riffs!
