I can't wait until we "cure" mental illness.  Then we won't have any more shootings like we've seen.  I feel like we're super close to curing it.

I can think of a number of professional medical societies and pulling together a large number of specially trained individuals to come up with a definition. Is bi-polar disorder a mental illness? How about schizophrenia? Multiple personality disorder? Someone prone to frequent unexpected violent outbursts? Severe chronic depression? Apsbergers syndrome? Because I guess it hasn’t been done, lets do nothing?

Elvis comes to the table with this: I just think if this amount of energy and finances we’re put into school therapists and social needs we may accomplish more.

And we get sidetracked into stigmatizing the mentally ill for all these mass murders. Was the Florida school shooter or that Vegas dumb f**k mentally ill? I ask honestly because from what I can recall... they were just shitbirds.

The kid from Maryland did it because his girl broke up with him.
We need to put an end to failed high school relationships immediately.

Don't look at it as 'punishment', Unsung. Look at it as a 'sacrifice'. Yes... you like shooting shit...and that gun is admittedly sexy as all hell, but the other dickhead owners who have shown the capacity for carnage such weapons are capable of have alerted a public to their risk to society.

And society doesn't want to assume that risk anymore.
If we are speaking about risk then society doesn't need cigarettes or McDonald's either.

    Agreed.

I don't do either (except for the odd McDouble on my way to the golf course if I haven't ate and won't be eating for a while).

I 1000% agree! I fully support banning cigarettes and McShitfood. They both are destroying the human race more than guns. It's amazing mass murderers don't go to McShits to mow down the slow moving herd of water buffalo. Probably too easy.
    It's a hopeless situation...

Is there a rest stop between McDonalds and the golf course or is the McDonalds next door? What about on the tees? Porta potty available? Particularly on an empty stomach.

Hey... don't get the wrong impression: were talking maybe three a year. It's either that or a big of kettle cooked chips when you're rushing to get to your tee time, but also have a void.

Reinforcing the doors would seem like a better option than having kids try to throw rocks.

Rocks, reinforcing doors, armed teachers, armed security on hand... anything but removing the guns from the equation, eh?
Or we couldn’t focus on the cause and not the tools....

Just that simple, eh? Go cure depression, anxiety, despair, and all other ailments that drive a madman to mass murder?

People are looking at the cause, but human nature is complex to say the least- not to mention the fact that all other countries have their share of the same social/emotional problems Americans face. The obvious difference is- as you stated- other countries do not provide tools of mass murder to their afflicted. So... mass murder is not a weekly occurrence.
Never said simple.  I just think if this amount of energy and finances we’re put into school therapists and social needs we may accomplish more.  You don’t have NRA junkies out there protesting against mental health needs. Perhaps both sides could work together instead of back and forth with nothing achieved.

For me, it’s infuriating to see the perceived permanence of the “NRA junkies”, like this is something that always has been and will be, like Kleenex or sexual attraction. That myth has to be debunked. The starting point is the stigmatization of the NRA itself as a thought control medium. From there, in the absence of a spoon-fed opinion, I hope people can make their own minds up, and if they say guns are for them, power to them.

The world’s fucked anyways - if the choices are nuclear war, climate disaster, and gun violence, at least we all have a fast and effective way to end our own lives.

Because I used to go there five mornings a week and get two mcgriddles with bacon and two hash browns and a large unsweet tea.

Jan 23 2013 I went Paleo and stopped Mickey D's cold turkey.  I stopped in March because I figured I'd reward myself.  I felt like puking for an hour, never went back for food again.  I did stop one more time for a coffee.

When you do life altering things and stick with them the date is easy to remember.
