I’m not a fan of the news. On the other hand, nobody had this in the newsletter predictions.

Once they stopped the holiday singles, there was no point in the Analog tier. They haven’t toured Aus / NZ in almost 9 years so there’s no tickets benefit. Looks like I’ll just continue paying just to be able to post here.
“Do not postpone happiness”
(Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)
Them charging the same after janking out the single (which must have been the biggest cost (production/shipping) of the membership) and just raising their margins without an explanation to why and instead just dead silence regarding it, is the lowest the clubs management has acted through out my years in the club.
That captalist shrinkflation-silence.

What do they really need to explain? The cost of everything increases over time. I remember paying 87 cents a gallon for gas in the early 90s.
Your attitude towards the club and management feels like an unhealthy amount of anger. It’s a rock band fan club. If people feel like the value isn’t there then just tap out. But for me… For $35 I get a bootleg download code. So I’m really just paying $25 for the opportunity to get the best seats in the house at a way below market rate. Look no further than the Taylor Swift fiasco… I’ll pay $25 all day long to avoid that madness.
The Ten Club has been an amazing benefit for me as a fan for the last 25 years. I can’t imagine being a fan without and it’s been worth its weight in gold when it comes to the experiences I’ve had at shows!

You shouldn't be driving and polluting the planet. Not in the 90s for 87 a gallon, and not now.
By the way, did you see me complain that time they adressed that they would and did raise the prices of the memberships? If I have an unhealthy amount of anger, from your very objective perspective, than I guess I would have said something attitude-filled about that then?

I’m not sure citing one time you didn’t complain is making the point you think you’re making.

I just went out to my driveway and started my car. Not going anywhere, I'm just going to let it run for an hour or two...
Let me donate 5$ to the Vitalogy foundation and keep my fan club number.
That's all I need/want
That's an interesting idea.
$10/year gets nothing other than access to 10C ticket sales. $5 of that goes to Vitalogy.
(If someone downloads shows, they're gonna spend at least $10. That would increase the expense to $20 and at that point, they might as well get the regular membership.)
Netflix, Peacock and Disney+ all have bare-bones options. It shouldn't be that hard for 10C to offer a limited option.

I feel like the digital membership was the barebones at $20/year. There wasn't much to it other than a digital deep (which sort of maybe came out 3 years late). I'm guessing 10c had too many downgrade from analog to digital when xmas singles ended.
I suppose the hard part (with economics) might be that the 10c isn't only a fan club. They sort of run Pearl Jam's whole operation, not just fan club duties, so I guess the revenues from memberships sort of float the operation (which is an interesting business model)?

I’m with you on that one. Feels like I pay to post on the Porch and ‘other music’ threads. That’s it.

It is making the exact point I intended.

Yah, I was in it for the Christmas Single and access to tickets. One the Christmas singles wrapped up I switched to digital because I don't really use the download codes (I think it's a bit mean they only work for mp3, and you have to pay to upgrade to flac), never wore the shirts, and what not.
$35 for ticket access and the right to buy merch. Makes it feel a bit more like other bands fan clubs where you pay a premium just for ticket access.
I still find it odd Metallica basically does the same thing and it's free. When Metallica switch to digital memberships (no more hard copy of the fan club magazine) they made the fan club free. I get free presale access to every tour (and front of the line because I was a paying member). I think Metallica Fan Club is well run and inexpensive
Metallica keeps making merch and new stuff. Remember the outrage when PJ had dog collars?
If you want it to be free, don't bitch about the dog collars and buy them.

Alternatively - they could not sink their money into production costs of dumb merch like dog collars, Halloween shirts, stupid Funko toys, license plates, etc and run the business (a band that we enjoy their music/live performances) more efficiently and based on what we have been giving the money to do

The band has been able to tour minimally and put out average music over the last decade + because they've built a brand that has allowed them to that. Good on them, less so for those of us that care most about the music and a better tour schedule.

Yet people buy (and flip) the "dumb" merch.
If people didn't buy it, they wouldn't attempt to sell it.

This is what happens when you constantly complain about the shirts
Who? Who has been constantly complaining about the shirts?
I mean yeah it would great to change it up a bit but to take that away, and the physical Deep magazine? Where they also took away the annual Christmas 7" single?
With all these changes least they could do is update the digital download from MP3 to Flac.
