The guest list isn't final but our numbers are in the area of 115 for the day and 140-150 for the evening (being invited anyways... 5 or 6 will probably turn up  )

Hopefully it should be a fun auld shindig and one to remember  I just can't wait to get the deposit down so I can announce the date!

Oh, the venue is here by the way:

We have plenty of hotel rooms reserved, Dave's family coming from Lincoln and all... oh and in case we feel like inviting any of you ruffians ;)

Oh.. hope you warned the hotel as well... just in case you do invite some of the ruffians. You know how they are with hotels... a room with a double bed easily 'sleeps' 10 in the end! :D

  • It's taken some searching, trust me... Coventry isn't really known for it's beautiful venues

We've had to sacrifice the wedding breakfast though. If we had that, the price would increase by £4,500+ We are having a little treat for all day peeps though... Afternoon tea and cakes! How very English 8-)

    Anyhoo, how is everyone today?

  • Uncultured swines!

Yes, 'wedding breakfast' refers to the three course meal after the wedding. We are not paying for 100 odd people to eat twice so we've scrapped it in favour of tea and cake and extra reception drinks :D

Pip, we already kinda have a date but it's not official until we put the deposit down at the weekend. The only issue we're having at the moment is, do we wed on a Friday or Saturday? I know Saturday is more convenient (people not taking time off work etc) but it's also more expensive. We were gonna work on the principle that if people care, they'll come on a Friday regardless but we don't want to have to pressure people into having time off work :(

bah, do it on the Friday. give people enough warning and they've got no excuse for not being able to take a Friday off (unless they don't like you, of course... :D )
you're giving them free food and drink fer fecks sake!

Well we're sending some invites out in January and giving some people notice as soon as we've set a date, so I guess you're right, there is no excuse if you have enough notice...

you should always do whatever YOU want to do... you and Dave I mean... If people want to go and celebrate your marriage then it wouldnt matter if it was a Monday... they'd be there... I've been to a couple of Friday Weddings and its been totally fine. :)

Also, if it saves you money then people will understand as weddings are really expensive.

Always do what you want to do as it's your day... remember that... I regret 2 or 3 things about mine.

I was told by Jill's parents that I couldnt invite my 2 male cousins during the day ... even tho I had practically grown up with them ... yet they invited a woman from Denver that they had met on a holiday to the day part? and she brought her fucking mother... to top it off the bitch then met me in the church before it and said "Hi Duncan, I'm Cathy... I'm sure you've heard all about me!" "cathy who?" I said.

anyway, I got my cousins invited but only cos I said to mum in law that'd I'd pay for them myself.
