  • Has anyone bothered to check out the opening band, The Building? Going tonight and was wondering if they are worth checking out. Also, what time has The War On Drugs been hitting the stage?

Interesting story.  The Building is actually the side-project of one of the guitarists in TWoD.  I did not know this.  He wrote the album he will play about finding out when he got cancer.

Thanks, I passed on The Building. TWOD went on at 9:01pm.

  • Incredible show last night at Massey Hall. They busted out Like A Hurricane as the encore. Going again tonight... I can't wait.

  • Finally seeing this band live for the first time tonight, in Bloomington, IL.  First time going to this venue too, excited it's small.  Can't even remember last small venue show I've been to.

I don’t think I even gave their new album more than one listen.  Got way too many other albums that got in the way.  Mental note made.
I'm like an opening band for your mom.

What did you think of the show?  I liked TWOD a lot, the end of the show was sort of weird though.  They've been playing a short encore every show but didn't last night.  It seemed like the stage manager was telling them they had to stop and signaled sound board show was over really abruptly. Other venue staff told me they had another 20-30 min to play easily if they wanted to.  Oh well, very good show anyway!

I thought they were excellent and I really liked the opener Lo Moon as well. Yeah, I thought it ended weird too, was surprised they didn't come back for encore especially since it was their last show of the year and this leg of their tour. Under the Pressure really blew me away. Only 2 complaints: 1. This teenage kid next to me farted a lot and it was bad. 2. Walked under a tree on the way to the car and a slug fell down the back of my shirt. Lol!

Just getting into these guys. Just bought A Deeper Understanding and really like it. Took it on a day drive with my wife and daughter. Look forward to delving into it further and cranking it up a bit. Hadn’t really heard a lot of their stuff to be honest. Basically bought it off reviews, word of mouth, and reading this thread in the board. Top album!

Nice! Didn’t see the news today, what award did they receive? Alternative release or something?

Saw they won a grammy and read this entire thread so decided to listen to preview tracks and some youtubes of their music.
It all seems the same to me, each song has the same sound. Not sure if I can get into them.

Fourth or fifth listen of Deeper Understanding and really starting to get into it. That’s what I find appealing about great music / albums....they don’t jump out at you at first. The best ones burn away slowly into your brain.
