My wife will be 8 months pregnant when we travel to see Pearl Jam in Columbia, SC and Virginia Beach. When my wife was in the womb Pavaratti put his hands on her mom's belly... so we're trying to keep the tradition Alive!
P.S. We're considering Sofia Pearl for our baby.
Cheers.
Norman, take of the wig.you're not pregnant and Eddie's not touching you.
In all seriousness.. did you check with your doctor about how safe it is for the baby to be at a rock concert when you're wife's 8 months pregnant?
All that loud music cant be healthy.
The baby is surrounded by so much fluid that it really isn't very loud in uterus. i saw motely crue when i was three months pregnant, the used and my chemical romance when i was four, and alkaline trio and rise against when i was eight months pregnant. my midwife advised me to stand away from the crowd at the ak3 show (duh. obviously, i wouldn't go into a pit pregnant). and to try to rest/sit a lot during the show. she was right about that one. my ankles were HUGE when I left the shows. but no other issues. had to get some more shows in before i popped cause i knew it would be awhile before i got to go to another one.
and the memories are something cool to share with your kid. i always tell my daughter (who is now 3 and a huge fan of heavy music) that the first live song she ever heard was "shout at the devil" by the crue. she loves it.
but yeah, i wouldn't want ed to touch my belly. i hated people touching my belly.

I missed 2 PJ tours because I was pregger's and my Obstetrician wouldn't let me go :(
3rd pregnancy was timed better....fell straight after a PJ gig

OK, touching pregnant bellies is not creepy to me. Wanting someone famous to touch a belly is kinda creepy because of the connotations of piety. Even more creepy is the above post. Poor kid.
This belly touching shit is weird... weird like... that reclusive girl from the breakfast club who uses her own dandruff flakes as snow for the pictures she draws... that kind of weird.
Hate to say it but people like you make being famous kind of scary.

My bestfriend saw the Northwest School Benefit 8 months pregnant. The baby went nuts kicking and rolling. He'll be three in April and he is absolutly perfect! He's even seen three shows at the Gorge. But, they were DMB and from the lawn. He also went with us to Marketfest back in August. So, now he's seen Mike and Stone from the front row. All before the age of three.
I wish I were the verb "to trust" and never let you down
When my Ob; stopped me from going I think it wasn't for fear of harm to my unborn babies....it was more fear of the beat/vibrations inducing early labour???

i don't get it... what's so creepy about my post? all pregnant women should just lay on their asses and do nothing the whole time? sorry, that's not for me. i worked until the day i gave birth and kept right on going to shows. and my daughter is a little ball of energy just like me... nothing poor about her. she's spoiled rotten and loved insanely.
Good God people, give the guy a break. He's not soliciting sex for his wife from Eddie.

Assuming you're talking only about the occasional concert, it's probably not too dangerous to the baby's hearing, but it's still not recommended for other reasons. By the time the baby is 22 weeks old, her cochlea, the inner ear mechanism that houses all components of hearing, is fully formed. So the baby can hear what you hear, but not at the level that you hear. (Sounds and voices are softer and more muffled.) Why? The baby's hearing is well protected by the muscles around the mother's belly, the placenta, and the amniotic fluid. But each baby is different and we don't know what level of noise may cause damage, so it's best not to risk it. What's more, loud music causes your body to produce stress hormones that can make your heart race, and that isn't good for the baby either. It's important to stay as healthy as possible when you're pregnant, and when you put this kind of stress on your body you're not providing the ideal environment for a developing baby.

Going to an occasional rock concert is fine, but I wouldn't recommend it every night. It's hard to measure exactly how much noise can affect a developing baby.
One study showed that women who work eight hours a day around very loud noise (at levels so loud that hearing protection is needed) run a higher risk of delivering babies with hearing loss. Another study looked at whether amniotic fluid buffered or amplified sound. It turns out that low-pitched sounds (like those from a bass guitar) are slightly amplified by amniotic fluid. As the pitch gets higher, though, the fluid dampens the sound. (This study also found that amniotic fluid amplifies a mother's voice by about 5 decibels, but dampens other voices.)

Good god, not another one of these, "BASH THE PREGGO PEOPLE FOR GOING TO A SHOW WHEN THEY DIDN'T EVEN ASK YOUR F'N OPINION ABOUT IT" threads.
I was at Lollapalooza at 7 months pregnant, despite ALL of the ignorant comments that I received here, http://forums.pearljam.com/showthread.php?t=240941 , I now have a beautiful, happy and HEATLHY baby boy.
Don’t listen to these judgmental assholes, preggos! My doctor gave me the okay and so did every other “MOM” on this message pit. The only naysayers were a bunch of dudes that have never, and will never be pregnant!
HAVE FUN! (And bring water and antibacterial stuff.)

Yeah its a bit odd. WWET? (what would Eddie think). I am pretty sure he does not view himself as a healer/magician/diety/etc etc.
On a lighter note, when my wife was pregnant and late, virtually everyone would have an opinion on how to induce---eat chinese food! don't eat chinese food!, walk, don't walk, go to rock concert, don't go to rock concert--it was hilarious!
it is very weird to go to a show with the goal of having someone you don't know touch your wife
Agreed!!
However...I went to 7 shows while I was pregnant in 2005 (2nd trimester) and I soooo would have let Ed touch my belly.
But it never crossed my mind. Nor is it something that I would have EVER sought out (or ever will...) But! If Ed wanted to touch my body I'd let him. Then. Now. Next year.....

The Sentence Above Is False
Maybe Pavarotti was checking the weight and wanted to eat your wife in utero. He must get famished when he is on stage!

His very preggers wife crowd surfs up to the front---
Ed reaches out and touches her belly---
a shaft of light, a warm breath, and a scream---
The baby is born moments later in stall 5 of the nearest ladies room, only his wife doesn't have to wait on line b/c 'it's an emergency'.
Maybe all I need is a shot in the arm....
