Oh contrare! It was your emotion in loving guns that let you miss a chance at making yourself, and your cause, look reasonable and to lend credence to the safe gun owner idea. But you missed it, I understand being on the defensive, you got it coming from all angles.
No chair ban, in fact, let's not ban anything let's get that darwinism going and have gun owners proove they can fire from atop a chair to renew their licenses lol

On the defensive? Pretty funny. I think I can handle you guys, even with my limited time and means to get here.

I'm still wanting to know why an AR-15 scares you guys so much. It's been proven to almost never be used in crime, what gives?

They are concerned for their kids. It's only a matter of time before the next clump of grieving parents must come to terms with the fact that unrestricted gun ownership trumps public safety.

What scares you into thinking you need one?

Do you advocate banning all firearms? Or just the ones that get used to kill people in less than 1% of the time?

That's good trigger discipline, those kids appear to be trained well.
I'm guessing they aren't loaded either.

    ...
I don't know... i'm not a self-professed well-trained, sharp shooting, law abiding and responsible gun owner... i have been around, handled and fired many weapons in my life... but, I was under the impression that 'Well Trained' gun handlers NEVER point a weapon at another person... loaded or not.
And 'guessing' that the guns are not loaded... is that considered responsible?

Just the ones designed for military use that the public accesses for pleasure.

Hey... I know they're really cool and all, but so are bazookas. It doesn't mean Joe Blow should be able to go the Big 5 Sporting Goods and pull one off the racks during the next 20% off sale like he can do right now with the AR-15.

Don't worry about it. This is all just talk. The gun loving nutjobs have bullied the American public into accepting what they shouldn't. You have nothing to fear. And... if worse did ever come to worse for you... from the sounds of things... you have a wall of lead to protect your interests.

Just so you know the AR-15 is a civilian model, not the M-16 military version. There is a drastic difference.

The following is an excerpt from an article debunking several republican/conservative ass hat arguments, including the one apparently being made by the OP.

"A gun in the house minimally doubles the risk that a household member will kill himself or herself. ( Some studies put the increase in suicide risk as high as 10 times.) An American is 50 percent more likely to be shot dead by his or her own hand, than to be shot dead by a criminal assailant. More than 30,000 Americans injure themselves with guns every year."

But, it IS the civilian version of the M-16.. sort of like the way the HumVee is the civilian version of the HMMWV M998.
The biggest difference is you can convert an AR-15 from semi-auto to full auto with the right parts, but would be hard pressed to find a conversion kit that adds the .50 cal to the civilian HumVee you just bought off of Craigslist. Yes, it is illegal in some states to sell full conversion kits... but, it is not illegal to sell the required parts, seperately... for the AR, that is, not for the HumVee. I'm pretty sure you cannot legally own an M998 with a fully functioning .50 cal in the turret (except, maybe in Idaho or Arizona)

    So...

honestly it would be soo much more exciting to hold off or even bash a knife weilding asshole in the home depot with a shovel, 2x4, 4x4, battery operated sawsall, gas grill tank in swung flung fashion, axes, hatchets, throw spike nails by the handfull, swing a bag of sand, throw a charcoal grill lid at the prick, beat him with a tiki bamboo torch party job, fucking cordless massive concrete drill, toilet set, toilet ceramic lid from the tank, beat him with a shower door, throw house plants at the guy, fire up a riding or push mower & run him down, chainsaw, chainsaw on a extension for high up tree work, pelt the dickhead with charcoal briquettes, surround him with a 13 man team of lightbulb throwing experts

Well it is illegal because unless you have a C3 license and ATF paperwork with the federal tax stamp plus proof that the sear was pre-82 iirc, well you'd spend the better part of your life being someone's girlfriend.

Nothing is worth that. Seriously people need to stop believing that obtaining a full-auto firearm is as easy as going out for that 3am White Castle run.

I wish the House and the Senate had this kind of humor in their debates. I almost spit my drink out when I read this. If I ever became speaker of the house, I'd institute a rule that the first minute of open floor debate had to be spent telling a joke. No holds barred. Whatever joke you wanted to tell, tell it.

If Chadwick hasn't thought of it yet, someone should compile his musings and put them in book form. Nice job (I thought of it first).

    Peace.

No. My comment was more of the "what's good for the goose, is good for that gander" type.

IF it's true that the problem with gun violence isn't guns but rather the people using them, then by the same logic, the positive thing about hero stories isn't the gun used by the hero, but the hero.

The gun lobby would simultaneously have you believe that guns, when used for violence, were not the problem, but that guns, when used for good, were the solution.

honestly it would be soo much more exciting to hold off or even bash a knife weilding asshole in the home depot with a shovel, 2x4, 4x4, battery operated sawsall, gas grill tank in swung flung fashion, axes, hatchets, throw spike nails by the handfull, swing a bag of sand, throw a charcoal grill lid at the prick, beat him with a tiki bamboo torch party job, fucking cordless massive concrete drill, toilet set, toilet ceramic lid from the tank, beat him with a shower door, throw house plants at the guy, fire up a riding or push mower & run him down, chainsaw, chainsaw on a extension for high up tree work, pelt the dickhead with charcoal briquettes, surround him with a 13 man team of lightbulb throwing experts

    Peace.

    :)) nice job

Just so you know the AR-15 is a civilian model, not the M-16 military version. There is a drastic difference.

    ...
Well it is illegal because unless you have a C3 license and ATF paperwork with the federal tax stamp plus proof that the sear was pre-82 iirc, well you'd spend the better part of your life being someone's girlfriend.

Nothing is worth that. Seriously people need to stop believing that obtaining a full-auto firearm is as easy as going out for that 3am White Castle run.
    ...
But, you admit... it CAN be done, right? You can still legally purchase an AR-15 from a private owner... legally obtain all of the parts to convert the civilian weapon (conversion kit in whole cannot be sold, legally) and convert the civilian AR-15 into one that is capable of going full auto... true or false?
It may not be the safest weapon to fire, based on the skillset of the person doing the conversion, but the point is... it can be done. Trying to convert the civilian HumVee to a military version requires the acquisition of a gun turret and an operational .50 caliber machine gun. It is also a lot easier to quiclkly identify a modified HumVee than a converted AR-15.
    That was the point.
    ...
Besides, the person that would convert a weapon would probably be the last person to file the required paperwork, don't you think? I mean, you are not even willing to register your existing weapon.... what would compell you the let the hated government know you are in possession of a converted weapon?
