I told you guys in May firing Girardi wouldn't make any difference. So, I'm a really smart guy. Make sure you listen to all my advice!
I still believe they would have done the same had he stayed. Not that I'm a big Girardi guy. I thought he was overrated when he was with the Yankees. But he wasn't bad

Don't be so hard on yourself. Like all sports, the players play the game not the coaches. I think it was a move that had to happened but I don't believe it's the reason they played well. I do like Thomson, though, if for no other reason than he's Canadian and is completely milquetoast. I want my baseball managers to not be the attention or center of anything going on in the game.

    hahaha

ATLANTA — Well before the Phillies christened Rob Thomson as their permanent manager with a two-year contract and a formal news conference Monday, less than 24 hours before the start of the National League Division Series, Bryson Stott had a question. This was even before Thomson became the interim manager. It was spring training. Thomson was the bench coach, the man tasked with all of the logistics of the team’s exhibition games.

Stott had three hits one afternoon. A bunch of the starters were told to exit the game. The rookie thought he heard Thomson say something to him.

“So,” Stott said, “I go up and ask him, ‘Hey, Tomper. Am I still in the game?’”

Thomson looked at the infielder with a serious stare.

“You’re in the game,” he said, “until I f—ing tell you’re in the game.”

Stott panicked. “Oh my gosh,” he said to himself. “I just messed up.” He didn’t know what to do. Two minutes later, the inning was still going, and Stott returned to Thomson.

“Were you being serious?” he asked.

Thomson couldn’t maintain the bit any longer.

“He just starts dying laughing,” Stott said. “He was just trying to mess with me. He says this stuff with the most serious face, but he’s actually really funny. He is hilarious. His one-liners are pretty good.”

nova is not a city team, fuck them and keep them out just because i hate them.  if you must insist on the nova fuckers being in there have to include Scottie Reynold's mad dash buzzer beater to get them to the Final 4 and maybe a line of coke for Gary McLain (sorry had to).  kobe wasn't a city guy, keep him out.   if you are going back as far as the Penn 1979 team have to include the Hawks upsetting #1 DePaul in the 1981 NCAA Tourney.  and Mascots you have to include the greatest college mascot The Hawk.

Yeah a StJ guy would be better at figuring out what highlights would be in this "will never exist" video but the whole point is to have the entire Big 5 represented as we are the only city with anything like it and why would you get so upset about this? I saw a video with two It's Always Sunny clips and a friggin' Manute Bol clip and thought maybe it could be improved. Jeez.

Also I'd add about a minute of random Harry & Whitey clips.

haha not upset just having fun.  i'd prefer not to acknowledge nova if I didn't have to.  my hate for them keeps me from being rational about them.  i'm working on my hatred but just can't bring myself to change. doesn't help that the one nova guy here acts like a typical nova fan either. it's all in fun though.

  • It was by far my favorite late night show. I also liked Criag Kilborn who was on opposite of him for a few years. That's why I sorta envy today's late night fans (if there are any). If you're into Kimmel/Fallon/Meyers/etc, you can always catch the monologue and guests the next day on YouTube. Back then, I could only catch Conan on Fridays and in the summer, and if I missed it, I missed it. Though sometimes I'd tape it if I really wanted to see a guest.

FYI - no idea if this is possible with normal cable (I'm assuming you can since DVR works the same either way), but I have been able to sync up Franzke with YouTubeTV via Sirius XM. It has been amazing.

I'll be glancing at my phone on the Fox app or whatever and then listening on the radio on my way to get my son at b-ball practice. Stupid 1:00 game - dumbest thing ever. Anyway, if we can steal this one Wheeler & Nola are lined up for the next two games...

I am "working" from home today, that's for sure, especially starting at 1 o'clock.

So, Robertson hurt himself (again) - this time celebrating Harper's homer. Cool.

Syyndergaard (sp?), Gibson and Efflin in the bullpen right? If Ranger doesn't have it just pull him and throw anyone out there a la Bruce Bochy.

Efln is absolutely a big part of your bullpen, especially now. I think I read there's a chance they use an opener for today in front of Suarez. Which is weird but I'm a fan.

I don't want Gibson starting at all in the playoffs. If he is, or pitching at all, I guarantee it's because they are losing badly.
