Anyone here get the new PJ book Long Road?  Love to hear your thoughts because I thought it sucked
I almost bought into the hype. I saw that is was like 200/250 pages? So I passed because I can't think there's anything new that I would learn in such a relatively small book.

Those books basically act like the band's history ended in 1995 or something. Maybe like one or two catch-all characters for "the rest". Of course some people on here act like that too.

Definitely nothing new but like most PJ books just focuses on Ten through Yield.  Everything else is barely mentioned.  Also chapters ramble about other topics that are supposedly connected to PJ (Clinton policies, A Star is Born).  I found it boring an uninteresting.

Thanks for the heads up. Was considering picking it up, but it sounds like most of the other PJ books I've read.

Also, I think they should seriously consider starting Vierling over Castellanos(or any other outfielder on the roster).

I hate the Cards with a passion.  Hope Phils destroy.
my hate isn’t quite “with a passion,” but I’ll get on your bandwagon….for now.

The Phillies are a bloated team of overpaid stars who can't play defense and their conservative rich guy owner finally bucked up to spend, and we barely snuck in thanks to MLB adding more playoff teams to make more money - what's not to love?!?

    Here we go!!!

I bought that 'Not For You' book, and started it a while ago. Seemed decent, appreciate the author admitting from the jump that the book would be his point of view as a fanboy.

Hey, I mean Middleton straddles the fence - he gave something like $150k to Shapiro. Still lets Mets fans throw out the first pitch of games, though, which is unforgivable. Then again holy shit just seeing he gave $100k to McSwain before that.

Anyway, I remember this - this feeling of meaningful, October baseball. It's been gone for far too long. GAME DAY BABY I'M BEYOND EXCITED.

I was about to pull the trigger on it until I read an interview with the author who admitted he checked out AFTER YIELD. Sorry, fella, but if YIELD is what turns you off to Pearl Jam....you have no business writing a book about them.

Haha, I saw that, too. iirc he basically said that Yield wouldn't be grouped with their bigger albums. Absolute nonsense.

It really is shocking how bad a candidate Dougie is if he couldn't get John Middleton's support.

My comments were obviously in jest - that's essentially any baseball team (or any other sport). Go Phils!!!

Time to talk actual baseball in here, for once.

Looking at these lineups for today, they gotta make something happen, desperately. Quintana is a lefty and for whatever reason the rightys on this team don't mash leftys as you would hope (see: Hoskins). I see they're starting Vierling in center. Not sure how much I agree with this when, yes, Vierling hits leftys better than Marsh but you're losing a defensive upgrade for a batter that may - at most - see Quintana twice in the lineup.

And Castellanos needs to get his shit together. Can say the same for Bryce, too.

Need big games out of Bohm and Segura.

Hacking too early in the counts. Not a fan. This guy goes no more than 5 innings tops if you work him.

16 straight scoreless innings vs. StL in playoff games.

    EDIT: 17

And... it's bullpen time. Uh oh.

Nowwww I remember this sick feeling in my stomach. Might need to move directly to whiskey for this anxiety.
