Visiting Cooperstown for the first time later this week. Will be checking out Ommegang as well--pretty stoked about that.

Any of you guys that have been there...any recommendations?

Both of those things....HoF and Ommegang.
Also, that sweet ass hotel on the lake.
We went for Cooperstown Dreams, which is a major opp running youth baseball weak long tournaments.  Multiple games every day against teams across the country (some from LatAm) and all star game, and even a home run derby.  Major biz there, they have a few different organizations that do this.
Awesome trip, you will love it.

We were there between the NLCS and World Series in 2008, coincidentally. Loved it. FLX are a couple hours west. If you head that way I can recommend a bunch of great wineries.

Parents took my brother and I to Cooperstown and surrounding areas as kids. Awesome trip, lots of memories. Would love to go back. As a big baseball fan the museum and hall is (obviously) really cool.

Lake George is incredible if you head a little further North!

My father and I went a few years ago for Father's Day and it was really cool. And the whole main street where the Hall is has cool souvenir shops.

The funniest thing when you go is that you always hear about how Bonds, Rose, Sosa, McGwire, etc. "aren't in the hall of fame." And yet, they're ALL OVER THE HALL OF FAME. Yeah they're not in the big room with all the plaques. But they're all over the museum.

I'll post a few Phillies-related pics I took in the post below. The Bruntlett jersey is from his unassisted triple play because that was the most recent one that's occurred....since the picture isn't very clear, some of you might've been like "An Eric Bruntlett jersey??"

I grew up in upstate NY, about an hour from Cooperstown, been a bunch and all the advice here is great, so nothing to add.  That said, just got back from a wedding in the Finger Lakes for a wedding and I had never seen 'FLX' before this past weekend and it was everywhere.

New license plates coming. They're not bad. I don't know why they can't just say Keystone State, but whatever.

The Dodgers really struggling to play outfield in the imposing elements of... Philadelphia? What was going on there last night? Well anyway that was the only way Whitfield (or whatever) is ever gonna get a triple. And Pache is somehow still on the team.

I really loved the way Nola pitched yesterday. He messed up a couple times, walked the 8 guy with Ohtani coming up. That "homer" he gave up was a total joke (I know, we hit a lot of those in our beloved bandbox). But he really beared down and brought the big pitches when it mattered. He had Ohtani looking like early 2023 Trea Turner out there. He didn't have his best stuff and it was obvious he wouldn't last too long but six innings and one cheap run is pretty damn good.

I'm heading down to the game on Saturday with the fam. It is "photo day" where fans get on the field pre-game and get pictures with the players. I'm hearing it is a madhouse and you gotta get there super early to have any shot of getting a decent spot on the field. Any of you have any experience with this? Very little info from the Phillies about it.

We had tixx for that day LY and the whole idea of standing out in the sun for 3-4 extra hours and waiting in ginormous lines was just not appealing to anyone. So we just went to see the game.

2 years in a row I happened to bring my nephew and one of his friends to these games, this was in the down years a while back.  We had no issues and happened to go early, not know it was a day we could be on the field.
    Pretty cool.

    Yeah, super f-ing hot, though.

I was watching his last start and it seemed like he was throwing way too many curveballs. He has a good one, but that pitch takes a lot of you and also the batters get used to it if you throw too many. I think he needs JT back to call a better game than Marchand or Stubbs. When he was hot he was kind of saving the curveball for 2nd/3rd time around. It could also have to do with - I heard his changeup was not in good form. Maybe he just needs a little rest.

Cooperstown was really cool. Saw all the stuff everyone has talked about. I am a weirdo, though. So two things that stood out to me was a mistake and an obscurity.

First....the blue seats at the Vet did not replace any wooden ones. They simply replaced different colored (brown, orange and yellow) plastic ones. And the renovation took place in 1995 not 1994. I am considering writing a strongly worded letter to the Hall of Fame.

Second...fucking Gary Redus is in there! I kind or remember hearing about this before but man....dude almost batted .500! He was a middling player for about a decade in the majors. I always remember him as being the centerfielder for the Phils for my first game my dad took me to in 1986.

@Cliffy6745 ---you ever play that Leatherstockings course? Looked nice. We sat out there and watched a few groups play 18. Beautiful setting.
