Abbott goes to Franklin Institute tonight. Show's been consistently good. Wife and I really enjoy it.
Surprised I don't watch this more often being a household with a teacher that consistently watches it. I need to get back into it.
I feel like this show gets more of the 'This is a Philly show' network show vibe than The Goldbergs did (which I also barely watched). Might just be me tho.
The Goldbergs "Philly" thing was clearly so fake and contrived. We all know they actually film these things in LA but at least try to convince us. Abbott really nails it and keep the references fresh.
We aren't necessarily caught up but we just go and watch them on Hulu. The kids love it.

This is just a better show than Goldbergs but I thought Goldbergs did a decent job with their Philly references though.
Also, I am amazed Goldbergs is still on. I haven't watched it in years. Looks terrible now.

That episode was good. I laughed when the kids thought Barbara was an alien. Also does the Franklin Institute have sleepovers? I don't ever remember ever going there. Maybe in elementary school...

Also, this here might be the literal peak of Pearl Jam. Short tour right after Yield. Playing those songs for the first time. Right before Jack leaves. When I envision the band in my head, this is what they look like. All hail the late 90's into oblivion

I agree with every word of this, with the exception of "might be." No I'm with you. This is the peak.

Yep. My only Pearl Jam regret is not seeing them while Jack was playing drums. Missed him by like 6 months!

Mostly agreed - 1998/2000, both iterations of those tours were the pinnacle for me. I wonder what would've happened if Jack stayed, feel like they would've went down the road of a stripped-down/raw sound. They'd still experiment and get weird, but I think they'd sound a little less "generic". I'm using that term kindly here.

I'm fine with the current band and a ton of their post-1998 music.

Hey I don't not like most of it. I'd just say I thought there would never be a time where there were certain songs I'd give the full-on NOPE to and skip (both album and live and go for a piss). This ranking is constantly changing for me, depending on mood/day/what-have-you but usually I come in around this most of the time
1. Yield 2. No Code 3. Vitalogy 4. Vs. 5. Binaural 6. Riot Act 7. Ten 8. Avocado 9. Gigaton 10. Lightning Bolt 11. Backspacer

Ole' is awful and Of the Earth is terribly underwhelming. Of course they didn't make an album, but some of the album tracks are definitely mediocre. They still tend to deliver on the whole.

We went to the game yesterday. I thought it was awesome with the pitch clock. It was still almost 3 hours with all the scoring and such.
One thing with these big crowds, these concession stands are really not ready for this. The lady at the ice cream stand is staring daggers at every customer and then after 25 minutes in line she's like "no more ice cream for 20 minutes" because they screwed something up with the refrigeration and I think she smiled. Kids took it well though.

How is the scoreboard in person? Seeing a lot of hate on twitter for there being a lot of empty space, no game day stats, hard to tell who is due up next inning, and ads taking up a lot of space. Accurate? Harsh?

Accurate. I was having trouble figuring out the guy's batting average, etc. It had really big some random stats. And you don't have a ton of time to figure it out with the pitches coming so fast. I definitely missed the first pitch to the batter probably a quarter of the time (didn't have my phone out either). They need to redesign the scoreboard.

That stinks. Some writer tweeted a photo yesterday that they actually made improvements but that it's still lacking. The Ranges have a similar sized one and that looks a whole lot cleaner than the Phils'.
I had a feeling this would happen. Same sort of thing happened at the Linc. I despise the scoreboards there. They made a big deal when they got bigger ones a few years back....but like over half of the screen is full of ads. Even when they show replays it's kept in the smaller portion of the screen. Makes no sense, other than from an ad revenue standpoint, which doesn't make for a more enjoyable experience for the fan.

I mean I couldn't figure out how many pitches Wheeler had thrown. I had to look at the little outfield wall "scoreboard" for that.
Ice cream place was the softserve behind 320/420. it's now "Richman's" or something. But every concession stand was a huge line, even the dinky pretzel/peanut stand. And the beers seem to be Bud Light or some whacked out IPA. The 00's beer selection was much better. They have really squeezed out the independent craft brewers.
Whatever, it was still fun.

Yeah scoreboard hasn't been great. Bad stats and shit you're not looking for. That Rangers board is amazing and perfect compared to this. All they did was make sure the advertisers are EVERYWHERE. It's been years and still hard to find the pitch speed and type of pitch without it disappearing in the matter of seconds.
That's the ice cream area I was thinking of, right around there. That's my spot for Sunday games.
Funny, I actually thought the beer selection has been better this year than in years' past. But could've been because I was not in my usual 420 seats so far. I know they have 2 Hearted now, which is huge.

FI has some cool stuff at night, too, for adults - some real nerd stuff that includes drinking alcohol and the such.
Do they still do laser shows there? Remember seeing a Pink Floyd one there a million years ago.
