Yeah, they're gonna have to make a move, whether like it or not, now. Our pets' heads are falling off faster than I expected.

We went from a walk off win to a game we blew. Bad baserunning and Dominguez having a horrible game didn't help :disappointed:

Dominguez clearly had no idea where the ball was going. Would've been nice to get the sweep but 2 out of 3 is probably what they deserved.

    18 runs. 2.5 hours.

Game like this easily used to be over 3 .5 hours+ previously.

    All hail the pitch clock.

Yeah I'm a fan for the most part. But I think it should be gone come the playoffs.

Maybe the solution is like one extra time-out for the batter or something like that. You can't just go completely changing the rules once the playoffs start. (zombie runner aside I guess - I'd say get rid of it and just call it a tie after 12 innings)

But yes the pitch clock is awesome.

If you're telling me this Castellanos guy is gonna just hit a ton of doubles this year, well, okay.

I think it should be one of the rewards for qualifying for the playoffs. There's no shot in hell that not only does Harper's series-clinching homer in the NLCS not happen, but the drama between each pitch wouldn't either.

I get hurrying up a one hundred sixty two season (this is also why there's the dumb extra innings rule not in the playoffs) because ain't nobody got time for that, but let the playoffs breathe.

IDK I dislike 4 hour playoff games almost as much as 3.5 hour regular season games.

So JP is Rebecca Rhynhart still your choice? The worst one except for all the others?

Nah, man, gimme that anxiety-inducing stress between each pitch.

Rhynhart is my 1 and Gym is my 1A. One day we'll get this election thing fixed. My only disappointment with her is her lack of presence/being a politician. You think she's the worst one except for all the others? What?

Then start the games at 6:30 instead of 8...but they will never do that. We now have at least one, maybe 2 generations of kids who cannot watch more than a few innings of playoff/world series baseball before bed time. That's not helping the sport.

That's just my expression when talking politics. I have to get a recommendation to my "doesn't feel like doing the research" buddy.

Seems like this Jeff Brown guy is kinda shady huh. (shocking)

Re: playoffs - I just don't think you can scrap the rule after playing with it all season, and it's demonstrably helping the game, and oh yeah there's still plenty of drama without hitters playing with the batting gloves and pitchers kicking dirt around between every pitch. But I can see some concession - an extra couple seconds or an extra timeout/disengagement per at-bat, something like that.

Ya see, I've never really bought this argument. Playoff games are always late. Guess where 11 year old me was when Mitchypoo got that last strike out? Asleep on my couch (sacrilege I know!). These things happen, and have always happened as long as there's night games. The playoffs are just longer now.

My contention on all of this "growing the game" stuff is that baseball has, and will always have, a baseball problem. You either will love it, or ya won't. But baseball (MLB) is trying everything in its power to make people like it. And I don't think that'll ever happen here. The game's growing just fine in Japan, Korea, Central America, etc etc.

Got ya, sorry, just couldn't get the context of what you were puttin down. I guess there's a mayoral debate tonight? I think it's being streamed by FOX29, so I'm sure that won't suck (this is sarcasm).

And, yes, Jeff Brown most definitely sucks. And I can't believe he's got a half decent shot of winning. Hopefully this SuperPAC/Ethics Board shit fucks him up. Apparently the Sixers gave him a shit load of money (or at least of the major pro sports teams as it was labelled, are assuming it is)

IMO there are 5 legit contenders - Domb, Brown, Parker, Gym, Rhynhart. They all have the money and are polling in the 15-19% range (no one has broken 20% in polls yet). Which is absolutely nuts and pathetic at the same time - that the next leader of the 6th largest city in America will be elected with like 25k votes. So dumb.

I think the odds of getting more people into the sport, and bringing older fans back to the sport, are greater if you have a more efficient 2 and a half hour game verses 3 hours plus that comes with literally no additional game action.

Again, totally cool with the clock! I'm just saying I don't think anyone watching a playoff game cares about that stuff come playoff time.

When it's 445 on a Sunday afternoon and I see we're still in the 7th of a game in August and I'm thinking to myself "fuuuuuuck fuck it I'm goin home"? Absolutely agree.

Oh I think you are wrong about that. Shouldn't have to pound coffee just to stay alert for the final few innings of a World Series game. Didn't multiple games end after midnight last year? That is ridiculous.

I was 16 for the 1993 playoffs and could stay up just fine (I stayed up for that 20 inning game against the Dodgers) but the old-ass current me wouldn't mind those games being over by 11:30 instead of 12:30, not at all.

Are you talking about the actual design of the rings? Or simply the fact that they even had a NL championship ring ceremony? Because if it's the latter, yeah, it was a little embarrassing.

The size of the ring and the ceremony to an extent. Those rings were bigger than the World Series championship rings

Hate the rings. Not the actual rings, but the idea of a ring ceremony for 2nd place is insane.

Headed down today for the game as a, uh, "work obligation." Looking like a goddamn beautiful day.

One thing about baseball: the larger bases aren't nearly as large as the Phillies think they are. I've never seen a team blow more outs on the bases. WTF
