Listened to the album last night. Opening track is fantastic. I like the rest of the album too but I need to let it sink in a little and listen a few more times. Probably will rank this one higher than the last two (which are my least favorite BK albums).
Sounds like Broken Bells to me. Danger Mouse must have been the producer. Black keys are progressing the wrong way in my opinion!
I love Broken Bells...but this is bad!
yeah it does, especially the beginning. Hopefully the rest of the album is a little better. Didn't hate it, but def. didn't love it.
Apparently danger mouse produced this album as well. So that explains the broken bells sound in this song.
Danger Mouse has produced every Black Keys albums since Attack & Release in 2008.
They haven't released a good album since attack and release Remember when they played the blues New album is beyond terrible I've seen them 3 times not looking like there will be a 4 :(
I think this album is fantastic. If they came out with the same sound and style as Rubber Factory or Thickfreakness I'd think they were stuck in their ways. This album is smooth and mellow. Their old stuff is amazing, but thats exactly what it is "old" The new tracks are very polished and sound great. I think this is a great move for them.
Looking forward to checking out the album next week. Holding out on listening to it until then

I saw that, but I will take a time off from concerts after I see Arcade Fire on August 29. Just that I've been going to so many concerts and feel the need to take a break. I'm also not sure if I will be out of town at that time. But if Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam and a couple of smaller bands come to Toronto in 2014, I will definitely go see them.
Finally , a band that comes to Detroit! Definitely going to that show, and excited about Cage the elephant too

The Black Keys unveil the band’s fall run through North America beginning Sept. 5 in Columbus, Ohio. Destinations include Toronto, Phoenix, Dallas and Tampa in a road trip stretching into December. Tickets go on sale next week.
The guitar/drums team of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney are supporting their new album, Turn Blue, due to drop May 13 on Nonesuch Records. With the first single “Fever” dominating the charts, The Black Keys will appear on “Saturday Night Live” May 10.
Along with today’s announcement are hints regarding the meaning behind the album’s title. According to the band, Turn Blue could reference the following:
A: Suffocation B: Sadness C: Numbness from extreme cold A Cleveland late night TV host from the 1960s named Ghoulardi E: All of the above
We particularly like the bit about Ghoulardi. As The Black Keys mentioned, Ghoulardi, whose real name was Ernie Anderson, was a disc jockey and TV announcer as well as the host of the locally aired “Shock Theater.” But Ghoulardi didn’t stay in Cleveland. Instead, he moved to Los Angeles where he eventually went to work for the ABC Television network. That was his voice on ABC during the 1970s telling viewers what was “Coming up on the ‘Loooove Boat.’”
But we digress.
With Cage The Elephant, Jake Bugg and St. Vincent appearing as special guests on select dates, here’s the North American tour exclusively promoted by Live Nation:

I think these guys are good, but new music these days is not very good, therefore, they receive more praise than they should. We are starved for rock n' roll and these guys do just enough. Just my opinion. +100 bonus points for mentioning Kalamazoo on their new album.

Well put - I agree 100%. I'm not at all impressed with Turn Blue - I feel like the Black Keys have "lost their fastball".
Just kind of discovered the black keys in the last month or two. I know a little late to the party. Was not digging the new singles at first but they have really grown on me. The first song on the album, wight of love is effing amazing!! Listening to that over and over on the stream. The dual guitar solo at the end is just sick.

I will need to wait it comes out because for some reason, I listen to the album on ITunes and it cuts off every 90 seconds. This never happened to me before. In fact, I've listened to King Animal by Soundgarden when it was available for streaming a week before being officially released on ITunes and I had no problem whatsoever.
Just got the album in the mail today. While I miss the early duo days, I'm enjoying it upon my first real listen (Did one iTunes Radio stream). I'm sure it'll grow on me.
Bullet in the Brain sounded great just now. I gotta go check out the rest of the album

A: Suffocation
B: Sadness
C: Numbness from extreme cold
A Cleveland late night TV host from the 1960s named Ghoulardi
E: All of the above
We particularly like the bit about Ghoulardi. As The Black Keys mentioned, Ghoulardi, whose real name was Ernie Anderson, was a disc jockey and TV announcer as well as the host of the locally aired “Shock Theater.” But Ghoulardi didn’t stay in Cleveland. Instead, he moved to Los Angeles where he eventually went to work for the ABC Television network. That was his voice on ABC during the 1970s telling viewers what was “Coming up on the ‘Loooove Boat.’”
But we digress.

Was not digging the new singles at first but they have really grown on me. The first song on the album, wight of love is effing amazing!! Listening to that over and over on the stream. The dual guitar solo at the end is just sick.
Another habit says its long overdue
Another habit like an unwanted friend
I'm so happy with my righteous self
